DOUBLE ARTICULATED TROLLEYBUSES IN GENEVA SEPTEMBER 2013 / TROLLEYBUS TPG LIGHT TRAMS LIGNE 10

  • TPG Geneva has a fleet of 10 bi-articulated 24.7m (82') trolleybuses that normally run on route 10. These Hess / Kiepe "light trams" were delivered in 2005/6 and are numbered 781 - 790.
    Pictured here are:
    785 Entering service at Place de la Poste
    790 at Bel Air
    784 following a SwissTrolley2 on Rue du Stand
    789 and 784 with 767 at Bel Air. 789 is heading for the Rive terminus while the followers are heading back to the Jonction Depot after the morning rush hour.

    Very impressive. I wish that we still had trolleybuses. Bournemouth had the 2nd best system after London.

      Trams can transport much more people

      Trams cost more to build, tramlines are very expensive and trams must remain on tracks.
      Trolley buses can transport up to 200 people, are more silent as trams and nowadays can do without outside electric supply for short distances.
      Also cheaper to build and maintain

      @@hans2406 Trams can connect to other trams which makes them transport more than 200
      Trams are able to move faster than buses
      Trams are better at busy routes
      Trams are more eco-friendly than trolley buses
      Trams Have longer lifespan than trolleybuses
      And trolleybuses:
      Trolleybuses Could be made to have a battery incase power goes out or change route
      Trolleybuses dont have the maintenance required with trams
      Trolleybuses use less material than normal diesel buses and battery electric buses

    I think it's very economical to have articulated trolley buses instead of trams. Heavy cost savings on infrastructure.

    How do the dual trolley poles not come disconnected all the time, I know when melbourne's trams used to use trolley poles a decade ago they had problems with dewiring at intersections

      Depends on the overhead type and quality, these ones are pretty good.

    que máquina nas ruas de Gênova povo feliz como em toda Europa bem servidos de transporte público enquanto isso monotrilho cancelada a obra que era pra copa de 14 depois 18 seria 22 não mais , talvez quando tiver uma copa em Marte
