This can be overcome by clearing the system cache in recovery, but xiaomi now doesn't have a clear cache menu in their recovery :(

Worked for me great ......for one day .then it reset back dhcp and after resetting to static it has no wifi again .fock redmi

I had to reset the wifi modem and forget the wifi on the phone and switch back to static etc ..it looks like this will have to be done on a regular basis .
