See the important factors are working hard to have excess money and brave enough to take risk with the money. Unless we buy lotto tickets we can't expect to win the jackpot. One more thing he had a amazing business background which helps in saving money to invest than spending it all!
Sadly Plug and Play doesn't lead funding. It only participates if there are other investors. Many of its accelerator programs (at least the ones I know in Asia) are simply partnerships with Governments or corporates. They are simply managers. Gone are the days when they took big bets.
