I mean getting the good ending is hard in a blind playthrough cause you only get subtle hints pointing to the dark ones being peaceful. Still a great game with a great story but, there's no way you can know. I'm sure most of players playing the game for the first time got the "bad" ending.

not really. to me its the awesome explosion ending. you know what's a bad ending? killing hundreds of people and forcing half a dozen good men to die for you so you can sit back and say "eh, i guess they're not so bad after all."

I mean why would they make Artyom hallucinate if they could just kill him? In the bad ending if you choose to kill them they try to mindfuck him into falling off the tower to his death. If they could control his mind like they show it would be easy to shoot himself or wander into a mutants mouth. They're clearly trying to communicate.

I knew that was another hint for me, so I waited and didn't shoot the Dark One. My idea was to wait and see if it's hostile or not, because I haven't encountered a dark one that actually harmed me intentionally before the final sequal. And then, Artyom fell from the tower, this disappointed me greatly. Then I searched online if there will be an actual choice later on in the game, but it turns out the "good ending" was locked behind a unique and scripted set of deeds that no one would have anticipated. I gave a bullet to anyone who was in need of one, I didn't even take the bullet one of the women gave me for saving her son. I tried to use stealth as much as possible but turns out you need to search online for exactly what you should do in order to get the good ending, instead of actually being a good person without knowing that payoff. There should have been an option at the end of the game during the countdown, like we have seen a couple times during the game (For example: LMB=Ready and RMB=Not Ready). Nonetheless, this is still one of the most immersive games I have played. 4A Games've managed to do something absolutely fascinating, now they only need to look back and improve what they can for the upcoming Metro game. If they manage to improve the right aspect of the game, there is a huge chance that it will be a game that will influence the gaming community for years to come.
I'm pretty sure they interfered a lot in peoples thoughts throughout the Metro and actually made them lose their shit while in the middle of fights against Nosalises and other "lesser" mutants. I mean, why were they popularized as being this evil? They probably shouldn't have revealed themselves, or at least tried to evolve as a civilization somewhere else. That's actually one of the points that I like most about this game, the Nazis aren't "racists" in this game, they're looking for "genetic purity" (which is even worse), the thing is everyone can be made a mutant if they want to. Artyom and the entire Metro look at the Dark Ones and don't give them a chance the same way the Reich grew their hatred and got paranoid to the point where they're killing actual people if they decide he/she is mindless mutant.
I actually got this ending on my first try and I felt sooo well about it, kinda mad it's non cannon because in my opinion Artyom would not have done killed the dark ones, at least that's how I felt about his personality through the games, he's always seeing the good on pretty bad people like Pavel, and will always exhaust any option before turning to violence. And also because Artyom really looks up to Khan (you can tell from diary entries) and Khan is always telling him to think rationally and to understand that evil is basically just a perspective.
There is no fact in it. While in the game they are 'friendly', what if in the future they betray the humans? I still think that they shouldn't be on Earth, and it's good they got eradicated. It's based on player choice on which is better. It's all opinion, not fact.
Played both, found redux better for graphics and maps. Possibly the only disappointment is with the end cutscene being the original and not touched up and so it looks out place in redux

But, I came to realize that the strage visions that haunted my journey were their attempts to reach out to us. I don't know if I was the firts to communicaate with them, but I will not be the last. Thy are amongus now. And the future- Our future- streches before us like an endless Metro tunnel.

To achieve the enlightened ending you must gain as much moral points as possible and not gain negative moral points. its pretty tricky since you need to be stealth all the time in order not to trigger any of the negative points.
yeah i realised this later, but it took a while till i found out how to charge it, i thought it was broken. i know hardcore ranger is meant for players who have played this before but still ... i wasn't going to play it more than once anyway

I seriously disagree, the original voice caused me physical pain while listening to it. The actor sounded bored out of his fucking mind, like some sort of drug-addicted narcoleptic. I praised the lord that it was changed in Last Light, and added to Redux as well.

Lmao Fuck this ending. I get as many moral points as possible. I stealth and don't kill anyone until the last Outpost where you have to kill if you didn't have the physic power of knowing that you needed a silencer to shoot out the x ray vision light and then I get the bad ending for like 3 kills.

Man i really was hoping for a longer cutscene. I just beat the game and got the good ending in the regular metro 2033 on xbox360. I feel totally jibed by it. All those hard ass levels for some bullshit ending.

While they did fix he game, I still had my issues with it. Besides the tour-guide epidemic issue, I got stuck at the tower since there's not a final rest-point since I lacked the supplies to reach the final end. The sub-titles didn't help either since they only appear in a flash and not for NPC because they had some interesting elements as well. Im glad that they made the enemies harder to fix the Difficulty, but they really needed to fix some of their other issues.
No matter which ending I choose, I'm unable to get a cutscene to play. The second I shoot the designator or let the misses fall I just get brought back to the main menu.
I didn't even get the option to shoot the laser, it just went straight to the missiles blowing up the city. I'm pretty sure this was the ending from the book.
It's the canon ending, but in the game the absence of a choice means you failed to gain enough "Moral Points" in game via searching, conversing, and stealthy play.
For some reason, this ending gives me a really unsettling feeling. If war breeds war, how do we stop it? I’m from America and I know my country has done some very questionable things in regards to interventionism but does that mean that in order to stop war we should do nothing? Just let North Korea and ISIS walk all over? Or does that mean we should build more schools in other countries instead of sending more troops and weapons?

I have a problem with the bad ending i get the dialog the missiles are in flight then my screen goes black and it goes back the main menu if I remember in the original not redux you watch the missiles hit.
Possibly because the developers figured that most people had gotten the bad ending or it was allready decided that the bad ending was canon so the whole theme of almost no hope in the second game is even more fitting

The dark ones want peace, they want to help humanity get back to the surface. However the dark ones communicate telepathically, and usually when they'd try this with humans, they'd turn the humans insane, and kill them. Artyom is the only one with whom they can communicate without kiling him. So they tried to reach out to him throughout the whole story. Sadly this fails. And Artyom realises this just as the missles blow them all skyhigh.

They're actually pretty easy to kill. Either two grenades, a full charged Helsing or a few loads of Shambler to the face does the trick.

Yeah, but it's still closest to the soul of the game (though I've yet to play through it with russian voice, maybe the actors really are bad). What blew my mind was when the baby Dark One in Last Light started speaking with a russian accented english :D
Lmao Fuck this ending. I get as many moral points as possible. I stealth and don't kill anyone until the last Outpost where you have to kill if you didn't have the physic power of knowing that you needed a silencer to shoot out the x ray vision light and then I get the bad ending for like 3 kills.

Man i really was hoping for a longer cutscene. I just beat the game and got the good ending in the regular metro 2033 on xbox360. I feel totally jibed by it. All those hard ass levels for some bullshit ending.

While they did fix he game, I still had my issues with it. Besides the tour-guide epidemic issue, I got stuck at the tower since there's not a final rest-point since I lacked the supplies to reach the final end. The sub-titles didn't help either since they only appear in a flash and not for NPC because they had some interesting elements as well. Im glad that they made the enemies harder to fix the Difficulty, but they really needed to fix some of their other issues.
No matter which ending I choose, I'm unable to get a cutscene to play. The second I shoot the designator or let the misses fall I just get brought back to the main menu.
I didn't even get the option to shoot the laser, it just went straight to the missiles blowing up the city. I'm pretty sure this was the ending from the book.

It's the canon ending, but in the game the absence of a choice means you failed to gain enough "Moral Points" in game via searching, conversing, and stealthy play.

For some reason, this ending gives me a really unsettling feeling. If war breeds war, how do we stop it? I’m from America and I know my country has done some very questionable things in regards to interventionism but does that mean that in order to stop war we should do nothing? Just let North Korea and ISIS walk all over? Or does that mean we should build more schools in other countries instead of sending more troops and weapons?

I just learned that the game has a so called "good" ending. This ending is pointless,if at the end I save them what is the point of all this journey? I could have stayed home and didn't deliver the message to Miller.

I think it sounded like he was very tired, which IMO was better and more immersive, since the life in the tunnels would really make you tired.

Edit: Okay, so I researched it. Yes, the sequel occurs AS IF the player had chosen the `bad` ending. Too bad. Some games, such as Dragon Age series build upon the player´s choices in previous games.

Metro is based of the books and in the books artyom just let the nuke launch So actually this ending is canon as in last light you have to get moral points same as 2033 to get the good ending the bad ending in last light is canon. so here exodus comes on and i hope to see the son of artyom
I am afraid it would have been impossible to implement this choice in the second game, as it would pretty much mean making a completely different campain

I have a problem with the bad ending i get the dialog the missiles are in flight then my screen goes black and it goes back the main menu if I remember in the original not redux you watch the missiles hit.

Possibly because the developers figured that most people had gotten the bad ending or it was allready decided that the bad ending was canon so the whole theme of almost no hope in the second game is even more fitting

i find it off that i only killed 3 or 2 soldiers during a stealth sequence and i knocked out the rest, gave a bullet to a sick person, knocked out about everyone yet i still got hte bad ending, what did i do wrong? also how do i know this video is the redux version because your watch and arms look absolutely different here, while the redux you have gloves and actual watch

The dark ones want peace, they want to help humanity get back to the surface. However the dark ones communicate telepathically, and usually when they'd try this with humans, they'd turn the humans insane, and kill them. Artyom is the only one with whom they can communicate without kiling him. So they tried to reach out to him throughout the whole story. Sadly this fails. And Artyom realises this just as the missles blow them all skyhigh.
