Conor wasn't acting. He just showed up on set and they kept the cameras rolling.
It wasn't an MMA movie but it was good. Conor acting was horrible but I did enjoy it.
He definitely over acted. I wasn't expecting him to win an Oscar in his first big role. All actors do this when they start off

Y’all hating on Conor but Conor first ever acting role and he was the best part he was funny and a bad ass , only negative thing I will say about Conor in this movie was u can tell they tried to get him to have a American accent when he first comes in but voiced over with his normal voice after his first scene because his American accent is terrible
If Tognoni had yelled "don't grab the fence " or "stop the fight " from the bottom of the grand canyon, that would have been the most accurate part of of the movie.

And for what its worth, this movie is about an MMA fighter so yes, in some sense its an MMA Movie.

This was nice to have on in the background while working, thanks mmafighting I'd watch more of this. Roadhouse was ok I thought, simple fun movie
Conor should continue to do movies and was excellent in this one. Best part about the movie. Best MMA movies are Enter the Dragon, Way of the Dragon, Special ID and Flashpoint.
Funniest scene: Conor drives a student learner car and park/crash it into a tree - so mcgregor realistic 😂

One of the best parts was after dalton whacked all the bikers, Conor showed up to their empty house and said “where tf is everyone” 😂

You gotta accept this movie for what it is, a turn your brain off for 2 hours, mindless cheesy action flick. These guys are critiquing Conor as if this movie was supposed to be in the mix for the Oscars lmao. His acting was hardly good, but who expected it to be?
Exactly, the Conor haters are going to hate it and the fanboys are going to love it. I wasn't expecting much from him in his first big role. The majority of actors over act in their first roles and Conor definitely did that
But it's supposed to be at least bad in a fun way, it was just poorly made all round. Bad CGI, poor fight scenes and camera angles.
People act like Conor directed the damn thing. He did what the director asked him to do. That's how they make films

No disrespect, but yall are tripping. Conor did a great job imo, and I can totally understand why he got great reviews from critics, and I can definitely see him becoming an action star if he decides to go that route.
Was the acting top-tier? No, but nobody should reasonably expect that from a non-actor. But it was serviceable imo. The action stuff, though? The man was on fire.
Also disagree with Jed’s take that Jake would’ve been great as Knox. I can’t imagine Gyllenhaal in that role, at all. And I’ve been a fan of his since Bubble Boy, and have seen most - if not all - of his films (Donnie Darko has long been one of my fav films).
As for the movie overall, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s great for what it is: a fun action film, and I’m honestly shocked it didn’t play in theaters. I saw a review from one of the big movie sites that said it would’ve been a smash hit in theaters, and I agree.
All that said, movies are subjective, so I can’t knock (no pun intended) what you fellas think about Conor’s performance. I just disagree.
Edit: Jay Hieron’s character was killed, according to the bad guy’s scene with Elwood in the bar, where he brings up watching the video of the fight.
Also, wasn’t Elwood actually a former middleweight champion in the movie? From what I remember, the fight with Hieron was a title fight, with Elwood winning the bout. But I could be mistaken.
1:19:01 £20 ($25) is what UFC PPVs cost in Britain (we only have to put up with 2 a year, the other 12 are all free thankfully, because they're literally on the middle of the night and hardly anyone here even knows who Bisping, Aspinall and Edwards are, let alone anyone else).
Also weirdly, I listened to the Masvidal kneeing Askren, Nunes headkicking Eye and Jones beating injured Thiago Santos card on the radio in the UK, specifically because I don't buy PPVs.
I saw one of the fight scenes online and refuse to waste over an hour of my life.
It didn't even look bad in a fun way it just looked bad. Poor CGI and poor camera angels

What up? Can you ask the-MMA-bosses to book a few fights at open weight? Jerrell Miller, Brian Shaw, Mijain Lopez, Hafthor Bjornsson, Eddie Hall, Mitchell Hooper, Martyn Ford, Omos, Big Show, Rikishi, Da Crazy Hawaian, Hong Man Choi, Semmy Schilt, NFL players, etc.
How has the panel never watched the original?!?!? Its almost as iconic a martial arts flick as Enter the Dragon, Bloodsport, and Karate Kid. It is just a tier below them in terms of iconic MA films.

Man, I probably watched the original Road House 10-15 times when it came out....the remake was a ONE & DONE watch for me. Uninteresting and zero plot that made sense. I dig the reviews and I submit the TV series "Kingdom" as the best mma content for screen ever made......maybe it just coincided with me moving from casual to hard core mma fan....plus it was at the same time with Conor's rise......but if it must be a movie....I guess "Warrior" ......but the answer is "Kingdom" for the best ever.
