Not many women in Samoa are doing Siapo or tapa nowadays. Ours are much smaller for wrap arounds, for bedding and for partitions in a house, but they are not of the scale Tongans do it. In fact, most of the tapa we see in Samoa now are Tongan-made ones. Very impressed with the Tongan tapa!

In Fiji, only some islands make ngatu or we call it here masi. But its not at the scale that tonga does. And its beautiful
Tapa of Polynesia are similar to Batik of Indonesia, Cocos Island, Brunei and Malaysia. similar to Bure Kalou of Fiji similar to 'Joglo' the high rise pyramid hip roof. or Jineng of Indonesia similar to 'Fale' of Samoa, Niue, Wallis and Futuna and Tonga.
