Why can't modern rap have a worthwhile message like this? This reminds me of the Sugarhill days when there was a positive attitude and great story in the rap that drew you in.
I have been listening to Paul hard castle and jazz masters for years and reading these comments, it seems that you all are missing the point of the song... I'll just say it's not about the rap or the music. I believe it's about finding God, using the blessings he has blessed each of us to overcome as life leads us to a unknowing tomorrow.
Ok? I love this track. If you only knew what I been through, until I found God. I speak for millions who can relate keep God close the rest will fall into place, the goodness of God
The comments talking about why can’t rap be like This or even saying rap has negative impacts on people are ignorant. There is “modern rap” that is positive and has messages all you have to do is search for it. And as far as the negative BS please look around you all genres music can fall in that lane but for some reason people think rap is the only genre of music that pushes bad ideals, stop it
Get a grip. This song is about going through struggles and coming out with your head up. Paul knew this story was worth telling, and its a shame you're so closed minded that you cant appreciate his vision.
I agree stop hating this just because it's rap, the song title says it all! If you knew what he knew, then maybe you would be able to pay attention to what he is rapping about, and how he is promoting getting out of struggles, and how the world just don't give a fuck if you're hurtin! In fact, the world sometimes tries to keep you hurtin, and results in beautiful works of poetry with a beat and a nice melody.
I generally dislike rap to a great degree due to the negative impact it has on people, what with the stupid ideas of killing, sex, money, etc. However, the message of the song is conveyed well enough to where I honestly couldn't care less if it was rap. The Kentucky Fried Chicken part may have gone a bit far, though...
I love Jazz, I like my fair share of rap also but the combo of the two is a little to much for me. Love the original version though. Listening to Hardcastle soothes me and takes my stress away. This didnt do anything for my stress level. I love to hear Helen Rogers angelic voice on a Hardcastle track.
It's not ruined at all he just put a different spin on it. Too many people nowadays have this whole misconception about rap. I personally do not like the modern rap, but this has a positive message. Also, Paul Hardcastle was and still is a musical genius, so he knew what he was doing with this. The man literally has an instrumental of this song that you can hear instead if you don't like it.
I love Paul Hardcastle as much as the next person and at first was surprised, but I love this song. I'm not into the modern rap, but this is rap that actually gets across without having to rely on the mention of sex, drugs, gangs, and money. If you listen it's a VERY positive and encouraging message. It's not negative at all. It just delivers a message that everyone may not be able to relate to. Paul Hardcastle was and still is a Musical Genius and I believe this is a special piece.

Hardcastle knew what he was doin. Nigga invented music.
I'm a former radio personality and I played both jazz and rap. a lot of today's rap is designed for negative impact.
