  • Special thanks to Hemal for filming, and Ben S for the title card photo. And more thanks to Hemal for not kicking me when I spell his name wrong for the 27th time.

So this is just a quick video of a test day at Curbrough Sprint Course in the Stage 2 Brabus, by Smart Hard Tuning. Due to the prolonged extreme abuse on these events, I opted to run ‘only’ 1.0 bar boost, though that is double stock for my era Brabus. The gear box map by SHT was great, nice quick but smooth shifts. Every passenger squealed louder than the tyres and was impressed at how fast and fun it was. Even if the tyres meant it keep trying to drift!
For info, it was about 7 Celsius, and I am still running Michelin Cross Climate 2 “all season” tyres. This is NOT what they were designed for. Hear the squeals. Definitely a case of “more power than grip”!

I've got more footage to come with the camera mounted outside next to the intake.... Woosh woosh!

The only thing I hate is the feeling of it not downshifting when you want because ECU sees conditions haven’t been met, rpm too high, and also it up shifting to quickly. I understand it isn’t a high rpm engine, it makes the torque down low, but I believe in getting the rpms up to go faster lol. Other thing I scared about when I drive mine is rolling over. I’ve been on 2 wheels like 2 times in about 1.5 years of ownership. It’s a very interesting experience.

Sorry for the terribly late reply. I haven’t picked up my CZcams phone in ages, my bad.
Yeah, you have to be very aware of your stability when thrashing it with Fuse 11 pulled. I agree about the shifting, but a gearbox remap does help. I would like a track mode though, where the shift points are higher and the kick down is disabled.

@@Mittam.MotorsportLooking back honestly I don’t even know why I said that because it’s a 4 valve per cylinder engine, and I would guess the torque curve is actually somewhat linear… Not really super interesting in finding out the connecting rod length, bore, and stroke, but it’s definitely faster than this one 5 valve per cylinder NA 9k reving 600ish cc kei car I rode in one time

@@rabbitfootedkitty1339 yeah, the engine is a typical 4v per cylinder, three pot engine, just with a turbo. Revs to 6,500rpm. Definitely happiest over 3,000rpm. Below 2k and it feels ready to stall. So yeah, an extra 1-2k up top would be nice.

@@Mittam.Motorsportit would carry momentum through the corners better if it were lowered, just look at the thumbnail of this video, and maybe had some stiffer springs. That was something me and my boss at work were thinking of doing to my car, stiffer springs, lowering it conservatively, and some stiffer shocks. I think the rear wheels already have like -3 degrees of camber already, and maybe the fronts have just 0 degrees of camber. Before any power mods, I would believe that’s a good way to go faster, and without fucking with the reliability of the stock engine, as it’s my daily.

Whats been done for stage 2 please also what power roughly. Looks like it moves very well & sounds nice 😁

It's a stage 2 kit from Smart Hard Tuning in Greece. Everything they do can be mailed anywhere in the world.
In my case, it's got an uprated clutch, new panel filter, new intake pipes, new turbo actuator and boost controller, bigger intercooler and fan, new spark plugs, new tubular exhaust manifold, stock turbo, then decatted stainless sports exhaust. Engine and gearbox both mapped. It's now on version 2 of the map, normally running 1.1 bar of boost (stock is 0.5 bar), but it's not been dyno'd with the new map. With the version 1 map it dyno'd at 127hp at the wheels, which is about 155 at the crank, vs the 98 claimed as stock. But the new map is alot better, plus I have a totally new intake and exhaust system to fit soon, and new coils. Just swapping the map to version 2 cut the time to reach 110mph by 8 seconds compared to version 1, let alone stock. For both versions 0-60mph is about 6.9 seconds. I've got videos to post soon.
