According to the DMBOK V2, data governance is defined as "exercise of authority and control (planning, monitoring, and enforcement) over the management of data assets." The important distinction between data governance and data management is that the first ensures that data is managed (oversight) and the latter is the actual managing of data to achieve goals (execution).

Interesting data governance definition and key aspects to take into consideration while setting up a data governance program namely roles & responsabilities and master data management but the presentation is not well structured (not MECE) without any relevant examples coming from her 15+ years of experience
well probably because there are no two companies that are the same as she stated. What she does in her work may be different from what I do in my work but the general framework of data governance is what she has presented.

I don't think she knows what she's talking about. She should provide some practical use cases.
As a Data Governance professional myself working with defining Data Governance strategies and implementation, Nicola is explaining the fundamental concepts of Data Governance, which she does really well. These are FUNDAMENTALS and as you can clearly hear from the questions and comments from the audience they are not very experienced with Data Governance. Being someone who have worked with this area for years, yes, this is quite basic, but for people that have never heard of Data Governance or are just about to embark on their journey, this is a really good introduction. Thumbs up, Nicola!
