The Brown Thrasher is a small songbird, slightly smaller than a sparrow. It has a mottled brown upper body and head. It has a distinctive white stripe above the eye. The male also has white spots on its wings. The underparts are orange-brown. Females and young birds are less distinctly coloured.
Inhabits wetter, preferably waterlogged meadows with scrub. It often perches on the tops of bushes to sing or forage for food.
    00:47 BREEDING
Breeds once a year and builds its nest on the ground. The female sits on 5 - 6 eggs for 11 - 14 days and after hatching, both parents feed the young for approximately two more weeks. After that, the young leave the nest but do not start flying for another 5 days.

    01:21 EXPLORATION
It is a migratory bird that stays from April to September throughout Europe, western Asia, northern China and Japan. Its wintering grounds are in the savannas of sub-Saharan Africa.
