Around 2000 years ago, just a few km away from those bunkers that you saw and were wandering why those bunkers there, Julius Cesar landed with his army and went to fight Pompey that at the time was residing in Durres. Fight from which Cesar came out victorious and became the emperor of Rome. So, knowing these facts we took a lesson from the history and decided to put some defenses on these strategic spots :P

One of my friend, bought an apartament 33.000€ and after 11 year, selled it 55 because europians ar interested in buying ap in here.

Have you recognized all the massive Rosmarin bushes on the waysides? So cool!
The bunkers were used by the military from the early 70s till mid 80s during the socialistic regime under president Hoxha. They were built for Denkens the country in case of invasion by foreign troups. Along the Ionic Sea to protect the Albanian coast from sea attacks by the Greek Navy.
There are almost 200.000 of these bunkers all across the country. Totally crazy!
But Gjipe Beach is so lovely! I've been there 2 years ago while season. Actually there are more people but not too many. Especially offroad campers are populating the campsite behind the bars. But these people wetter really chilled and very sociable. Campfires at the beach, music, dancing, beer and some Mary Jane! 😇

I love your videos. It would be nice to get a bit more organizational detail. Like how long does the drive take, and how long is the walk, and anything about the facilities at the beach. For people who actually plan to go there. Thank you so much
We drove from Dhermi as mentioned and it was like a 5 minute drive; the walk was about 30 mins LOL but we were stopping quite a bit. Due to it being low season the facilities weren’t in full swing but there was 1 bar x

You need at least two weeks to really enjoy the south albanian sea one week in late August and the first week of September/ or just the first two weeks of September which is still warm but not overcrowded!

I was here only a few days ago and this beach is not like this! There is minimal sand and to enter the sea it is full of rocks and stones so if you have sensitive feet or don’t like stony beaches either avoid this beach or get beach shoes! Another thing to note is the water is not clear and is extremely murky 😭 I don’t know if it has just changed over the years but sadly it is no longer how it appears in this video. My girlfriend and I were left extremely disappointed however the canyon is beautiful but not worth the trip.

Oh that's nothing in Dreamades you can find minibatches like that carved every 30 meters by rocks. Now that's what I call intimate. Still GJipe is a great place. I hate overcrowded beaches.

So the only explanation about the bunker case is that when our country was in a dictatorship, our dictator built so many of these bunkers because he was always preparing himself and the country for war. He dictated for about half century so yep his choice and now we can only see these bunkers nowadays, not really planning to use them 🤣
