I've heard many versions of this song. There is no competition in how it could be done, or should... Just sometimes you know, that the mysterious window was open, and you were in touch with every word, every sound... not even like you wanted it to be, but much deeper - how it wanted to be by a soul which would die for every word and every sound. That how I understand renaissance and early baroque were for people 400 years ago...

It surpasses most of the other performances not only in technical aspects, but also as far as taste is concerned, in the overall esthetic concept of the piece. Although there's quite a lot of things happening (like the choral polyphony, the vocal expression of the soloist, some guitar agréments), it's not exaggerated, cheap or tawdry, as opposed to many other approaches, possibly the epitome of the worst being that of Mrs. Figueras (whose vision of this piece is somewhere between coma and epilepsy, selective mutism included). Respect, fellow(esse)s, and waiting for more!
