- In this video you see and hear the brand new 2017 Ford GT V6 EcoBoost in action on the hillclimb at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 2017 GT is powered by a 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 EcoBoost engine which is able to produce a whopping 647 horsepower! What do you guys think of the sound it makes?

People are all upset about this car being a V6. Well, let me give you something to shut your mouth. Ford decided to go with their 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 because it's lighter than a V8, and weight is critical when it comes to supercars.
not only that, but the regulation against pollution and over consumption of the petrol. V8 is slowly dying like the V12 was. soon, V10 will also die. no more big cylinders like before (6.0L V12, 8.0L V8, etc) sad thing, but true
The people upset also fail to realize this engine makes 664hp and is easily capable of 800hp with bolt ons. They would have to re engineer the car to use the new cobra engine. No need to tho... the GT weakness is not power.
Good video as always!! I appreciate the old ,if we can call it in that way,Ford GT with the mighty v8 supercharged. However altough this new model has raplaced the engine with a smaller turbocharged I have to say that is quite good!! You can even listen a little crackle when it revs !!

Sounds way better than the V8
This car is truly the first car made by an American that can compete with european super cars. Power or big engines are very little part of this competition.

No not really, they did it back in the 60s with the original GT, three years in a row they beat the best the world had to offer. Showed up three times with it and won three times.

As for pure street cars, the Corvette Z06 was already breaking supercar hearts 10 years ago, not to mention the ZR1. The Viper ACR as well. Even the previous Ford GT... way back in 2005, it dusted the Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale in acceleration, braking, top speed, and on the track. The only quicker American at the time was the $450k Saleen S7 (itself a European supercar killer), and the only Ferrari that could outrun it was the Enzo. Don't get me wrong, I love them all regardless of make, model, powerplant, or country of origin, but American performance cars have come quite a long way in the past 15 years.
You should look up Ford's total domination campaign from the late 1960s. The 1966 LeMans 1,2,3 win with 289 powered GT-40s was spectacular. The 1967 win with the 427 powered Mk IV embarrassed Ferrari so badly the displacement rules were changed restricting displacement. Ford painted the 67 Mk IV red to really piss of Mr. Ferrari! 200+ mph without turbos!

I want someone to convert the EcoBoost engine into a V8 configuration in this version of the Ford GT...it just is not right with only a V6 option.
Well they physically cant sadly, the body was designed with all the aerodynamics which made the engine bay really small, so they needed a v6 sadly, plus ford wants to show off the eco boost
They actually did it on purpose to show the abilities if the Ecoboost engine (see the hoonicorn vs ford gt clip) preformance wise it's a real leg-up

Certainly seems to act like a GTE car, given the way it twitches around corners and shutters over bumps. Also, that engine doesn't sound half bad - certainly a V6, but not like any other I've heard. It has the higher tones of one of Nissan's engines, but the smoothness of a retro GM V6; if you ask me, that's the best of both worlds. It's just petty and intellectually lazy to point out the single detail of its cylinder count when everything else is simply top-of-the-line: the chassis, the transmission, the aerodynamics, the power-to-weight ratio, and many other nice technologies. Most people to have driven one could give a shit that it has a V6. Some do though, and they always link it back to the victories of LeMans and the successful Daytona prototype.
I have to say, if the engine configuration (Ahem... XJ220!? Nissan GT-R!?) and lack of plushy-posh-fancy leather interior (look at how much a 430 Scuderia is worth!) are the main gripes of this vehicle, I would say it has done exceptionally well so far.

It sounds like its running some high boost. Still, it's a v6 Ford ecoboost for a PISS load of money so I'd rather save up for a V8 Hennessy Venom shiiittttt
Lol you're comparing yachts to private planes there. henessy venom = undriveable on a track, it's a lotus with slightly longer wheelbase and way to much power. ford GT = made for the track, probably sucks in a straight line

I would guess it is more in reference to the kind of technology - a souped-up interpretation of their turbocharged economy engines - than its fuel efficiency.

Especially considering Ford now has a flat-plane V8 in the Shelby. I mean it's kind of weird when the most exotic motor they've made in many years ends up in a Mustang, but this got a turbo V6. I assume they had some good reasons, though. Exhaust notes don't win races.

In case you didn't know this car is not a grand touring car like those that have nice comfy interiors, this is a straight up race car. It will destroy pretty much any grand touring car you can throw at it. And according to Jay leno and Andy frisella who are actual owners and also own other million dollar cars, the 2017 GT should be a million dollar car because its that great of a car. They actually feel they paid less than what a car like that should be sold for, because of the way it performs, looks, feels etc. so youre dumb 😂😂
