A bittersweet yearning of unrequited loved...hark the nightingales are singing...pleading with thee and for thee.
Young love, first love, green & soft & tender and golden ("Nothing Gold Can Stay" - Stay Robert Frost).
With the simplicity of Schubert, he became a legend in classical music.
I'm moved to tears! Everytime I hear it, I got emotionalized.
Listened to this over and over and over cuz this piece was a Theory 3 Analyzation project. Your interpretation helped A LOT! Thank you for posting!
wow, this is really, absolutely beautiful. as a vocalist who loves this song to death - i never feel like i can get it to the sound just way i think it SHOULD sound - i think you've hit it right on the head. beautiful, beautiful, beautiful sound, emotion, expression...it seems completely flawless. bravo! i LOVE the notations you added to the vocal line in the second half of the piece.
Four years ago I saw this video and I still enjoy the piece ... love it :)
what a soft sensitive sweet touch
Simply Sublime!!! Thank you!!
A wonderful interpretation of this absolutely beautiful Schubert piece. Bravo Mr.Berry!
direi tra mille interpretazioni su youtube questa è una delle migliore! complimenti!!!
James, very well played. I love playing this piece myself too. A piece that you need to play from the heart. My compliments.
Yeah, its Serenade, but I'm guessing its the proper name up there *points to name of the video* and Serenade is the translated version of it.
I love this piece and the composer. All amazing. I play this over and over again and I can't get enough of it.
I am currently attempting this and it isn't as easy as it looks or sounds. There are the three melody notes after the intro that you have get even because they can sound like 2 quavers and then a long quaver and then a crotchet instead of 3 quavers (short quavers) and a crotchet. Its very hard to mix it in with the left hand and get them even at the same time!
This is one of my fav pieces of all time! I love it.
Beautiful. This composition is not as easy as it may appear.
Exquisite! Beautifully and emotionally played. Bravo.
Most beautiful performance, thank you.
you play the piece very beautifully. I am learning it now and find it quite challenging.
thanks for the inspiration.
..love Schubert.. thank you so much
Wow, James. A very moving interpretation. Incredible. I do have to admit it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for playing with such incredible feeling.

Left me speechless, simply stunning, thank you!
The best recording on youtube solo piano of this piece I think. Or does anyone else know another good vid of Schuberts Serenade for solo piano?

This is actually pretty good. And the audio recording is pretty good too.
perfect. just perfect
i love this song
so heart warming
Excellent play
¡Sencillamente maravillosa!
I like this song.
i dont think it's too slow. actually thats the rythm that this serenade was written in.
beautiful. Thanks!
Very beautiful interpretation!! This particular transcription sounds always wonderful in fast and slow interpretations!! I also have my version one youtube and my hat is off to your beautiful vision of this timeless "song"! greetings from Portugal.
Wonderful! I also play this on the organ. I have an arr. by Preston Ware Orem for the organ.
I'm learning the same exact arrangement of this song, and I think he messes up at 4:26 - 4:38. He must have had a memory slip or something, because that part is definitely altered pretty greatly, but I LOVED his recovery! I had to be following along with the score to notice!
sono d`accordo, è veramente un' ottima interpretatioze.
i dont think it's too slow. actually thats the rythm that this serenade was written in. yes there were 2 slips. but i noticed that was when he got too emotional. that happens.
From a fellow former pianist KUDOS.
Great! I enjoyed this.
well well done!!
e un vero capolavoro
nearly the best on youtube! congrats....
hard hitting in both senses :)
good!
that's a good interpretation
Very good performance! I'm trying to find the sheet music for this...

Welcome to My Favorites
Listen Irene Veneziano and Vladimir Horowitz
@aardvaark069 liszt is a genius.
I find the middle part 5.02 off putting. Because the whole song sounds nicer when playing smoothly.
@pollekepetaatekop:
yeah, o.k., but lets be fair, who can compare with horowitz, i mean, kissin, lang, who can now yet compare?
Very nice, respect!
... have to play this piece for my exam ... .... its kinda complex for me ...
who can help me sending me music score of that serenade :P ? he play very clear and his tempo is perfect .... ;) good job :P
it's often called seranade rather than the title here.
wow
What about text changes starting from 4.05 on few places? Nobody have noticed that? Guy was composing stuff... :)

I dont know why, but listening to this song mkaes me think of Dorian Gray =)

Oops, there was an extra Stay...his name is Robert Frost...not Stay Robert Frost.

Absolutely beautiful ! I managed to get free music sheet for only first 3 pages...any advise where I can get the full version of the music sheet for free. PDF will just be fine for me. Cheers Debbie
Go to a college library near your place, and see if they have it. If not PM me, and I'll see what I can do.
@liuzhen2006 : Hi there I can tell you where it is !
yes i want that scores .... i want to see what you have.... send me pls .. thx
I think Vitaly's is far better. Vitaly's right hand ornamentations (at 3.25 and after) are so smooth!
his hands are purple! :O
on top of your piano underneath the Mozart ...
@MissHappyAllTheTime : INVESTIGATE the composition and take care to play slowly the difficult passages !
wow :D
link???
ah, so nice compared to Edgardo Roffe. This piece is played with integrity and truth. Too bad the sound quality was poor. But it looked like the camera was far away.
you are crazy , Schubert , Liszt and other composers was the best , you're a fool if you do not appreciate that !!!!!!!
Liszt Ferenc
mein gott
HA SBAGLIATO TUTTO NELLA PARTE DOPPIA

You have to be a troll.
Sorry I did not enjoy this, Lack of feeling and a few duff notes.
Bryan.
