Hi, i had NT scan done at 13 weeks 5 days gestation. My age is 35. CRL measures 74mm and NT Is 3.3mm with background risk 1:279 and adjusted risk of 1:45 for trisomy 21. I am awaiting double marker result. Can the double marker result still show as negative in spite of my NT scan showing high risk????? Please help.

There are other tests to confirm the diagnosis . Speak with ur doctor regarding NIPT screening or Karyotyping test . The latter is a confirmatory test which will help in making better decisions.

What does screen positive Cut off means in double marker test?
Usually the cut off value is 1: 250. It means there is a chance of one baby out of 250 to be abnormal . Any thing less than 1:250 is usually considered a positive risk.

What does the cut off value mean in this test report ?? I got cut off value 1:100 for down syndrome and 1:50 for Edward and patau syndrome
Usually , the risk is calculated in terms of probability ratios. Say if some has 1:100 . It means the odds are 1in 100 .
For downs syndrome the cut off is 1: 250, meaning any number greater than that say (1:200or 1:100) is a considerable risk and in most cases needs to be further evaluated .

My trisomy 21 is positive. 1:91 is the ratio..I am 13 weeks pregnant at the tym of dual test.Scan that was attached at the time of screening was 1 month old that time my baby was just 6 weeks old.. Can ultrasound report could have made this difference?
Not sure how someone can do the test without the Latest scan report . Scanning report will be used to obtain the NT (nucal translucency) value ,CRL Value and nasal bone status . NT is the most important component in the analysis for risk . If the old report doesn't have any of the values ,yes there can be difference with a recent scan . Testing time is actually a couple of hours . But the testing is done only at higher centers , most of the time the delay will happen with the logistics only

This should be fine in most cases unless risk factors are present in the history or ultrasound scan .

Usually there is a fair chance of a negative result on NIPT at a risk of 1: 250 . However nothing can be said for sure . A lot depends on how ur scan findings are especially , Nasal bone, nucal translucency , ductal venous flow and tricuspid regurgitation and ur age .

First of all thnx for the quick reply....Nasal bone is present.. NT measures 1.0 mm..fetal movement and cardiac pulsation seen in real time...Fhr=151bmp...OS closed...Cervix normal in length.. and my age is 29yrs..

Hi I hope you can respond my question.
I was low risk for Down syndrome at double marker tests but my Papp A level was low the dr put me on baby aspirin to prevent premature birth and high blood pressure and fetus growth restrictions but at my 20 weeks scan the consultant found out my baby’s femur length was in borderline means slightly short a small pratial AVSD and bright bowels they said baby can be born healthy it can be my placenta not working really well but it also can be Down syndrome markers they advised me to do amniocentesis but it has miss carriages chance so I declined we don’t have any family history of Down syndrome I think it can be my placenta what do you think? My risk Down syndrome were 1:1100 and for others t13 and T18 were 1:11000 nt was normal as well and the other parts of the baby’s body were really well developed

Individual risk stratification will be done for age , T21 , T18 and T13 . We need see which of the above mentioned has moderate risk . Please mention the risk ratio as it will also be greatly helpful in interpretation.

This should be fine in most cases. Rarely further followup is needed , saying that it again depends on the age of the patient , her scan report and associated risk factors.

It means chances of baby with chrosomal and neural tube disorders are extremely unlikely .

In my report down syndrome is increased risk 1:140 then what % chances for normal baby ?
As per the report, the ODDS are at 1 in 140 . Confirmatory tests are available like Karyotyping or NIPT which can give a better picture .

Value of 5 IU/L is an exact borderline value , which is even indicated by faint line in ur urine test also . Nothing can be said unless the values raise significanltly . Repeat testing after after another one week can help us understand better .
