When grandma is afraid to take her own grandchildren until their mom gets home, there is something seriously wrong! If her own mom is afraid of her imagine how frightened her children must be! I don't know the situation but living with their mother doesn't seem the best place for them!!

What worries me most about this mess isn't the lack of organization on the mother's part. It's that she floods people with texts and emails, curses and yells when she doesn't get her way, kicks in doors, and has other people scared to take her kids because she makes herself a problem. It's only a matter of time before the kids are back in care, more traumatized than before.

Well, she's certainly a disorganized and disinterested parent who doesn't plan things, who doesn't make herself understood, who doesn't care if she is messing up the days for half a dozen other people, who doesn't care if she breaks her childrens' hearts by actually not being home to welcome them back!!! With all this disorganization, though, it also makes CPS look inefficient. WHY would the social worker go ahead and pick the children up to bring them home when she didn't have CLEAR understanding of when the mother would be home? After talking and texting the mother many times, it was still a loosey-goosey arrangement "I'm 6 hours away",,,four hours later she was "still six hours away". There was no point at which mother said "I will be home at xx:00". In my opinion, if I was the social worker involved, I would have seen a huge red flag with this mother's attitude and I would have talked to my supervisor and found out what I would have to do to have the return of the children delayed legally until mother was standing in front of me in person. To drive to the mother's home with 2 excited children in the back seat thinking they are "going home", and then find nobody at the house is ridiculous. Why even take them out of their foster home when you have NO clue when or if the mother will be home to receive them? I suspect these kids will be back in the system within weeks, maybe days. Mother is clearly disinterested. Grandmother will put herself in danger if she takes custody. Someone has to give these boys a permanent loving home where they can grow up to be successful adults. It isn't going to happen if they go back to their mother.

  • @candee2746

The judge made a huge mistake in my opinion, giving her those kids back at that particular time. Maybe after a few months of intense therapy but not at this juncture. The woman can’t even control her anger, emotions and actions with other adults. How is she expected to handle children who constantly test their parents in every way? She seems like a loose cannon.
Also…what good mother travels hours away knowing she could receive a phone call at any time, stating someone is on the way to bring her children back to her!!?? Her actions show that she doesn’t care and those innocent children are NOT her top priority. No way I would’ve returned them at this point.

The judge knows that. I'm a foster parent and returning the kids when they don't have quite enough to terminate is a awful strategy but one nonetheless. Basically they know she's going to mess up so at that time they will have all the evidence they need to permanently remove. It hard to mess up when they don't have the kids.

I just can't imagine, as a child, whom instinctually loves their mother more than anything, getting taken away from her, first off. Like, that's already traumatic. Then living with strangers for who knows how long. Then, finally, get told you're gonna get to go home to your mommy that day. You'd be so excited! So you leave, bags packed, ready to go... Then, you wait all day. Finally, you're told you're mommy isn't picking you up. Your grandma won't even take you. Now you have to go back to living with a stranger.
    Imagine the heartbreak.

@nicoledoubleyou So true and it sticks with you. It was 1986 and I remember having to go to this old courthouse in downtown St Pete where my mom requested of the court to relinquish custody of me to my dad by HER choice her new boyfriend had teenagers and my aunt had me in another state when they started dating so when I came “home” I didn’t fit into the equation, she didn’t even tell me why we were going or where we were going but had to bring me so she could just pass me off to my dad and stepmom - I didn’t even realize (I was only 6) she even had trash bags of my clothes in the trunk of her car. Talk about being blindsided. She was given visitation but didn’t use it, but 2 years later she called and talked about how my Aunt and Uncle were coming into town and how much she missed me and they were coming to pick me up for a long weekend, even spoke to my dad and said she’d be there by 4 on a Thursday to pick me up - so my dad and stepmom made plans only to come home at 1:30 in the morning to find me still sitting on the front porch and which I didn’t want to leave just in case she forgot which house and was lost. Not sure if they were more heartbroken for me than I was. Never heard from her or saw her until a year and half later when my dad dropped me off at their front door and left because he got caught having an affair and left my stepmother for her and the lady said her daughter was grown and didn’t want to play mommy again (my dad shared that tidbit)… that shhhTT sticks with you as a child, I’m in my 40’s and it’s still messed me up and our quasi relationship. The pain of rejection is real, I’m so silly I’m crying typing this. Some people are not meant to be parents and are defective, lacking that emotional care and natural true love you should have for your children - I can’t fathom them but their faults leave a lasting effect on their wee ones…. I’m no longer a wee one and still feel that pain of rejection. No child should feel that way, ever!

I know it's easier said than done, and I hope I'm not being annoying, I just hate to hear that you're still having your heart broken by those losers that didn't deserve your love. Ugh I get so angry hearing about terrible parents, so many people are hurting because they had parents that never should've been having babies. Babies aren't toys that can be thrown away or forgotten about once you're bored of them. Kids who learn to love their abuser will usually love abusers because they spend their childhoods trying to justify and give excuses for their parent abusers. The lil boy already justified why they were alone and the reasons why. Going back to foster home is very very sad and I’m sure they were sad but hopefully the example of the nuture home will stick in their heads for years n years to come. Once the judge says your children are bring returned. CPS make the wheels turn pretty fast. The need those vacant placement homes.
    Grandma didn't even want them.
I couldn't imagine turning away my granddaughters. Ever
    Very sad.
I'm appalled that this judge, still gave her back her children.

Those poor babies. She's either a borderline personality, or depressed and shouldn't have those kids. Poor judgment, self-serving, selfish, no impulse control... obviously, doesn't think of her children before just leaving town. I'm disgusted. She'll lose them again 💯

She's not entitled to notice for her kids. They're her responsibility and as of Thursday they were legally back in her custody. Her job was to inform them if she was gonna take a road trip.

She has very little desire to have her own innocent babies! How devastated and unwanted I'm sure these little people must feel, Shame on her!! She should have never been in this position in the first place in which she's had her children taken away from her and needing a court date to have the court system see if she is fit to continue mothering her little people. So she should be up awake and present without any excuses and gratitude and intentions to impress those in the position of power to allow her to be reunited with her babies!

Miss Velasquez should have been made to put her deceitful face front and center for the whole video. Did you notice how, as others talked, she slouched lower and lower? I believe she is lying. She wasn’t at truck driver school, or whatever it’s called. For some reason I cannot even fathom, she didn’t want her kids back that day. I’m guessing it probably would’ve inconvenienced her. She should get her parenting terminated. Those poor kids. Can you imagine their heartbreak?

I'm no expert & I honestly haven't even seen very many of these types of cases (until now) but IMO it seems like AT THE VERY LEAST , the judge should have asked many more questions and made attempts to make sense of the mom's story - which would have likely been a total fail bc u can't make sense out of nonsense. & on top of that...she didn't seem to care 1 way or the other about having been honored the opportunity to get her kids back! this made me so sad.

I guess I'm going to be the unpopular opinion..... I think both sides were at fault. Her bc I'm sorry if it was my kids I would be sitting at the front door the whole day even prior to them coming home but they could have given her at least a rough estimate of when they were doing it. Like we will be by between 8am and 12pm or something close.

Fair enough. Clearly the communication was poor and CPS needs to create & document policies and procedures for returning children from their temporary placement to the birth parent. The children were once again failed by their mother & the CPS system

If your heart is in it, I say go for it! It’s not easy but as a former foster mom I can say it felt really good to help give a safe and stable place to kiddos even if it were just a little bit. There are so many people with negative stereotypes of foster parents but I have found there is a much larger group of good people than those that are often portrayed.

Since she has a case with CPS, why don't they know what she's doing for a job?? And, that is the most convoluted BS story I've ever heard. Reminds me of the yarns my meth head relative used to spin. Seriously. When she hurts those kids, and it will happen, that judge will have bloody hands too.
