My car features DVD-Audio disc playback. It’s too bad that format didn’t stick cause these releases would sound amazing in my car,
Remember, like all new technology, there were “dueling formats” (as opposed to “Dueling Banjos” LOL
Columbia/Epic/CBS/Sony had the “SQ” titles and RCA/WEA and others had the “QS” titles. Naturally they were incompatible with each other. Just like VHS/Beta, HDDVD vs. DVD, Kahn vs Motorola AM stereo, etc. Thus the reason they all failed.
The only format I can name that didn’t have a competing format was vinyl and the CD. See how one standard can work?

If I want to take these along for a trip in the car can these be played there or will they sound funny?
They will sound fine if you have a BD surrround system in your car ,It also has the stereo versions included on the discs.

I`ve been ordering these separately simply because I didn`t have the money for the bundle at the time. All I need is Billion Dollar Babies. The others sound great! I`m not much of a fan of the quad Paranoid though. Not because of the mastering and such but because of the weird mixing. At least it sounds more presentable than that Awful dvd that was released by I think it was Castle Communication.

Rights don’t belong to rhino and it’s been reissued multiple times on optical discs over the years.
@rainemiller4015 Sure. A few times on 5.1 but not the 4.0 original mix.

@@adamhunt4462 The Original Quad mix was release in the Immersion box set for Dark Side of the Moon. It is my favorite of all the various DSOTM mixes.
I love these releases!!! BUT: I just received the Quadio bundle, and all 4 discs/cases have at least some forms of mishandling damage to them - scuffed up cases, dings in the paper of the booklet 7 tray card, and the worst damages are scratches on the printed side of a disc. These are not just shipping damages but must be from the creation/collation process where the discs were put together.
