    How have I never seen this style of competition before?!?!?!?! 53 yo ... into horses my whole life ... !!! I've seen amateurs messing around on their horses and at full gallop, but never artistry like this while doing a routine such as this. That horse is a ROCK!!!

    I'm curious why he's retiring. It seems like such a loss to the sport as well as to him (especially being so young). I wish him the best in his future endeavours and hope that he gets to put his talent to a good use.

    • @oOKomuiOo
      @oOKomuiOo Před rokem +2

      I thought he was retiring from individuals since he won everything and now switches to squad as he did this year.🤔

    • @Sydneythecheese
      @Sydneythecheese Před rokem +2

      He is retiring from individual because he is a 4 time world champion and he has already proven that he is a champion individually that, at least at this time, cannot be rivaled. He has met his goals individually but he is not retiring from the sport entirely and will now likely focus on team and pas de deux events as well as traveling coaching.

    So this is now the new format since they've done away with the World Equestrian Games, correct?

    • @anniebaker6763
      @anniebaker6763 Před rokem +2

      Yes. Eventing, Driving, and Endurance will be have their own championships. They’ve done away with the old format since it was proving difficult to find venues large enough that could withstand such a vast range of disciplines all at once

    Why do they have to tie his head down?

    • @thatknave
      @thatknave Před rokem +2

      head isn’t tied down, just rounded. it means that the horse can’t suddenly lift their neck up and throw their head in the air. if they were to do that, the person on their back could lose balance and fall

    That was quite short. This is somewhat like gymnastics but less power and flair.

    • @veewooshi9882

      On a horse. Your condescension is palpable…

    • @agmm9399
      @agmm9399 Před rokem +1

      The reason its so short is because its required to be just a minute long, technically 59 seconds to play it safe.

  • @barbararichmond5242
    @barbararichmond5242 Před rokem +1

    FFS the horse goes round in circles while a gymnast does something on his back. The point?

    • @resathe6760

      what's the point of any sport?

  • @mrfoxguy483
    @mrfoxguy483 Před rokem +3

    Hmmm. Never knew such a thing was considered to be an equestrian "sport". Wondering exactly what its origination derives from. Circus acts ended in the mid 20th century in America. 🤷‍♂️ The strength required is that of Olympic gymnastics. Indeed.

    • @oOKomuiOo
      @oOKomuiOo Před rokem +9

      And what abou this is not "sport"? It has it's origin in ancient Roman games or it originated in ancient Crete, depending on who you ask. Only because something ended in the 20th century in America (which isn't true in this case) doesn't mean that it isn't done anymore in the rest of the world. Btw it was a part of the training of soldiers from the 17th century till world war I.
