    This is so so cute! I've been wanting to change up my yellow Kanken too since the mustard yellow feels dated now. You've inspired me!

    I have a grey kraken but want to dye it purple. Should I bleach it first?

    Hey! As I’m submerging the backpack do I keep the stove on, or I turn it off as soon as it steams?

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 3 lety +2

      I think you should be ok to turn it off as long as it’s steaming. You can also keep it on low heat while you submerge. Either should work!

    i have the same yellow one! did the straps really not take the dye? i love the look! what was the name of the dye color?

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 2 lety +2

      I’m sorry for the year-late reply lol! Just seeing this. But the straps barely took when fully submerged. I don’t recall the color’s name, but I believe it was marketed as blue denim or something like that!

      You need Rit Dye More for synthetics to get the straps & such dyed. 😊

    I bought two kankens second hand, one is red ox and the other lilac. I want to clean the Red ox as much as I can then dye it dark red. The issue is that both kankens are dirty on the bottom from use, if I dye them do you think the dye will cover the stains? Also, I am thinking of doing the same to the lilac one but dying it a darker purple.

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 3 lety

      I’m not sure if it will cover the stains or not, but I think it’s worth a shot! Maybe you can double dye it if they remain after the first try!

    Does this work despite the wax/ water proofing of the bags?

    did you use all-purpose rit dye or synthetic fiber dye?

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 3 lety +2

      I used all-purpose dye, however in retrospect, synthetic fiber dye would likely be more appropriate given that the backpacks are made of Vinyl F/polyvinyl alcohol.

    Hi! Question: If I want to make a classic pink Kanken purple, should I use blue dye?

  • @hazlyiscool

    I have a purple bag and I want to dye it black so it doesn’t matter about the colour before right bc it will just be black or do u think it will be like a weird black

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 3 lety

      I can’t say for sure, but I feel like it will be a normal black!

    Hi! I want to know if the straps didn't take the dye without taping?

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 2 lety +1

      I submerged the whole backpack (no taping) and that’s how the straps turned out. Hope this helps!

    • @littlebitoflily
      @littlebitoflily  Před 3 lety +1

      Yay! I hope it turns out awesome! I don’t use mine that frequently, so it hasn’t faded, but if you use it daily, it may fade a little bit.
