In this video, I dye my yellow Fjällräven Kåken backpack with denim blue Rit dye. Then, I embroider it to add some pizzazz! I hope you find this video helpful!
I’m sorry for the year-late reply lol! Just seeing this. But the straps barely took when fully submerged. I don’t recall the color’s name, but I believe it was marketed as blue denim or something like that!
I bought two kankens second hand, one is red ox and the other lilac. I want to clean the Red ox as much as I can then dye it dark red. The issue is that both kankens are dirty on the bottom from use, if I dye them do you think the dye will cover the stains? Also, I am thinking of doing the same to the lilac one but dying it a darker purple.
I used all-purpose dye, however in retrospect, synthetic fiber dye would likely be more appropriate given that the backpacks are made of Vinyl F/polyvinyl alcohol.
I have a purple bag and I want to dye it black so it doesn’t matter about the colour before right bc it will just be black or do u think it will be like a weird black
This is so so cute! I've been wanting to change up my yellow Kanken too since the mustard yellow feels dated now. You've inspired me!
Thank youuu ❤️ kisses from brazil
I have a grey kraken but want to dye it purple. Should I bleach it first?
I dont kno how I didn't think of removing the logo! I think I'll replace it with a cooler patch! Gr8 vid thanks so much
Hey! As I’m submerging the backpack do I keep the stove on, or I turn it off as soon as it steams?
I think you should be ok to turn it off as long as it’s steaming. You can also keep it on low heat while you submerge. Either should work!
i have the same yellow one! did the straps really not take the dye? i love the look! what was the name of the dye color?

@@littlebitoflily all good bestie i actually ended up getting the denim blue & dying my bag! it came out so cute tysm❤️
You need Rit Dye More for synthetics to get the straps & such dyed. 😊

I’m not sure if it will cover the stains or not, but I think it’s worth a shot! Maybe you can double dye it if they remain after the first try!
Does this work despite the wax/ water proofing of the bags?
did you use all-purpose rit dye or synthetic fiber dye?
I used all-purpose dye, however in retrospect, synthetic fiber dye would likely be more appropriate given that the backpacks are made of Vinyl F/polyvinyl alcohol.
Hi! Question: If I want to make a classic pink Kanken purple, should I use blue dye?
I think so!
I have a purple bag and I want to dye it black so it doesn’t matter about the colour before right bc it will just be black or do u think it will be like a weird black
I can’t say for sure, but I feel like it will be a normal black!
Dose the straps dye
i had a tough time spelling fjalanvan kaken
Hi! I want to know if the straps didn't take the dye without taping?
I submerged the whole backpack (no taping) and that’s how the straps turned out. Hope this helps!
@@littlebitoflily Thank you so much for that. Have a nice day!!
I gonna try this myself! 😊 Does the colour fade over time?
Yay! I hope it turns out awesome! I don’t use mine that frequently, so it hasn’t faded, but if you use it daily, it may fade a little bit.
@@littlebitoflily Thank you so much for your reply❤️
Hi If I wanna dye my kanken will the dye go on my clothes if I wear the kanken
Really late reply lol But no. If you fully rinse it properly. 😊
Heey 😊 how much did you use? The whole bottle or?
Yes, I used the whole bottle!
@@littlebitoflily thank youu! 😊
do you think that dyeing would also work with the re-kanken bag?
My guess is that it would probably work
How did you keep the color of the straps if you submerged the entire thing?
The final green backpack was just how it happened to turn out with the straps fully submerged
I died mine in hopes to get it grey (blue + brown) and it just turned brown 🥲
Oh no! That is a bummer :(
