Sad story 😔. Depression steals you from yourself. It makes you a stranger in your own world. It's a pain I would never wish on anyone 😭. Opening up is not as easy as it sounds .... A depressed person will be okay on the outside but dying on the inside. Sending hugs to anyone going through this rabbit hole 🤗. You can do this 💪 ... Somehow 💪
Very true, and when a depressed person decides to open up, they've reached an irredeemable stage. All along such a person will be smiling and cracking jokes with you. You gotta be keen and very close to notice a depressed person.
This is a very strong comment. Nimeifeel

niko 20 yrs na kutoka last year november niliamua kughost wasee..i went for months bila kubonga na watu whatsapp or even viewing their status. when offline nilikuwa sawa..naongea na watu wa familia vizuri but ni recently ndio nimerudi online after kuwa m.i.a for long, na nilirudi tu kupost status ya link ya mkuru-clickclickbang, vile alisema tushare na wasee kumi. niliona nitakuwa mkurugenzi wa aina gani nikikosa kushare link na hata wasee 10. so nimekuwa online ever since na sitaki kurudi huko kwa kunyamaza for long hadi unaanza kuoverthink,anxious...etc. ni vile umesema abeli, ongea tu na wasee💯
Dear lord,
I pray for each and every person feeling hopeless, depressed and like they have reached the end. Lord instill hope, faith; resilience and tenacity to endure life. Father you have stated nothing is impossible with you, lord may you give us all the faith to believe and the patience to wait upon your will for our lives irrespective of whether it aligns with our own will for our lives.Father I pray you grant us all compassion and empathy to be able to stand with others when they are going through hard times and offer a shoulder to cry on without stigmatizing, judging or alienating ourselves. I pray for polycarps family, wife and children, LORD your are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. Stand with this family. Lord May polycarps story be a door opening to help those who are in similar situations and instill hope. Father forgive us all our sinners we are unworthy in your presence. Lord hear the cry our hearts. Provide jobs for our youth. Lord provide food shelter and resources for those who are lacking. Father use those who are able to be blessing to those who lack and are suffering. Above all May your will be done and grant us acceptance and peace to accept your will for our lives and those around us.

I would endorse you as AMBASSADOR FOR MENTAL HEALTH... You have highlighted crucial things people tend to run away from and hide in the ne of culture. Keep your good work 👍
Am watching this 😢😢, because my friend went missing, left his phones in the house and a note that we do not look for him.
I am praying that God keep him well and just give him more grace.
Thank you Abel na mbogi yako for representing!
I’ve been struggling for the last 2 years but after opening up and seeking professional help.
Better days are definitely ahead 🙏🏾
Hang in there Will, takes courage to open up and seek help. Indeed better days r ahead.
Thank you Abel for continuing to enlighten people about challenges of mental health in the last couple of days. You are right about declaring mental challenges a national emergency in Kenya. Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day and the theme this year is "Make Mental Health and Wellbeing for All a Global Priority". This means more resources need to be directed this way. May Polycarp's death not be in vain. May it be a wake up call to our policy makers to act fast.
Thank you Abel and Bi Mkuru for standing with this family and members of your crew too.
I will truly miss Samora.
I'm just looking at his conversations and I wish I did something. He would complain about his dad giving him too much pressure. He had very big dreams aki. I'll miss his long phone calls. I wish I did something back then😭😭😭 rest in peace Samora 🕊️
I understand what it feels to have a pregnant wife while jobless, this guy was going through a lot in a way few would understand.

Abel, be blessed manze. This Polycarp story has saved a soul somewhere.
Rest well Polycarp
To anyone going through hills, valleys and turmoils in life, I pray that may out good Lord give you strength and the courage to wade through. It's not easy for us especially men. The society expects us to be everything but sometimes life doesn't go as expected, sometimes things don't just seem to work but let's not forget that these things are not going to go against us forever, there shall come a time when you will sit and look back and tell stories of success in your journey. Situations are never permanent, like for instance, my case, my dad died when I was in class four, my mum was a house wife by then, she didn't know where to begin from she started struggling with me In the eastleigh estate, she became depressed and then she realised I could see she wasn't Ok, so she sent me to shags to continue with my schooling. She didn't want me to see her suffer. I was made to repeat class eight because she didn't have money to pay my school fees. Unfortunately I lost her immediately I joined form one. Life became more harder, I was sometimes forced to go fishing during the night in order to raise my school fees, something I had never done, neither did i know how to go about it.i struggle and finished my high school. My journey is too long, I can write a while book about it. But despite all that and the many I haven't shared I can gladly say God has been faithful and here I am. As I started life a very young person I couldn't rent as low as 250 shillings I couldn't own even a wheelbarrow but right now I can confidently say am at a point where I can manage not only myself but my family too. Am sharing thia just to encourage someone who might be going through the same, someone who might be seing this world is against them. I can confidently say that in whatever you do no matter how small or demeaning it may be if you put your heart to it God will always reward your genuine efforts.so let's not give up and let's not be choosy .
As one who lives with mental illness I feel you. When days get hard and nights long..When you no longer can see the light in life. Think of King David listen to the psalms in repeat and let your brother in christ who had been to hell and and lived to tell the story help you. pull yourself by your boot staps..
And always remember this..... Actions have eternal consequences. You are not responsible for how. you feel and what you think but you are responsible for how you choose to act. May we learn to be still abs and know that His God.
I'm so sorry about your loss 😢. I thank God that you've managed to pick up the broken pieces. Don't give up, God will hold his promise to you; you shall conquer all 🙏🏾💖
5 years ago I lost my Dad with the same same issue Polycarp had ,its high time mental health is addressed 💯 Rest In Peace Polycarp

RIP Polycarp, I just remembered a phrase from mkuru, " unakumbuka shida ulikua nayo 5 years ago? hyo shida inakusumbua sai, 5 years to come hautawezakuremember, just hand on one more minute"
Last year I reached this point...anytime I was on footbridge I felt like jumping in front of a trailer; anytime I was walking beside the road I just felt like throwing myself in front of a lorry or trailer. One day while I was just in my room I received a call from a Dr. (Lecturer) who had seen an information in my certain file and wanted to more information and so he arranged a meeting. Through that meeting, I got healed from the thoughts...we talked so deeply, and he understood things no one in my family or friends ever understood; instead they always mocked or laughed. I am alive because of Dr. Mungai of K.U. Thank you Mkurugenzi and team for the stories. They're not only fun and educative, but also so therapeutic.
I hope you're doing better Kelly.
Do you mean Ann Mungai??
Been there.depression is no joke lost my marriage. Both my parents and been suicidal for the last 15 years.am still fight with those demons.thank you Abel for keeping the hope alive

I was depressed in 2018 and the thoughts that crossed my mind were disturbing. I shared my story to guy that was fundi wa Radio and that conversation really gave me hope. Depression is very scary and difficult. May God be with all of us. Thanks sana Freddie
Everyone seems okay till you have a deep conversation with them 😥😥😥😥😥a sad generation we have
I went through depression back in 2017 to 2018 and i can say it really bad. Unakaanga hivi unajiona useless...Life inakosa meaning. I was always lost in my thoughts. But atleast someone noticed and talked to me and i realized that am not okay. I went to a counsellor and now am okay. Pressure ya life ni real and lets learn to talk...Kwanza sisi Young men. We need to know that the problem we are facing now kuna mtu alipitia 5 years ago na bado alimake it in life. For me now am okay...But nowadays i always talk to a friend. Sipendi stress siku hizi.
Great job Abel.. am particularly impressed by the fact that you're honest about not being a professional in that area... We have seen other wannabe content creators masquerade as psychologists and that is totally wrong! Keep using your platform to link those in need to the rightful place.
Mkurungezi thank you for the update. Your efforts were not in vain - we may have lost one mkuru but 49+ will be alive because of you. Baraka sana
Depression is real. I remember being depressed early this year. I would take a random walk to no specific destination. Sometimes I would find myself beside the road seated just staring into the horizon with deep thoughts. It's the worst state you can find yourself in: No motivation in life at all. Sometimes you even envy the dead for the peace they are experiencing. I am glad I got out of it. One thing ya'll need to know is that the face of depression is not sadness: depression is in the smiles you see around. Check on that ever smiling friend or fam.
Same thing am battling ❤
@@Marymumbi3010 sorry about that. I pray that you find the strength to get out it.
you nailed it. my partner was the same.would take long walks, contemplate getting hit by a car but many people couldn't tell he was suicidal because he was always 'fake smiling.' he has ever taken an overdose of some meds but luckily I was around. i remember I was always crying akinghim anataka kutuwacha (me and the kids) na nani. we have battled it for over 2 years but he finally beat it. he is very optimistic and doing absolutely well
@@lile_8266 sorry about that. I'm glad he got over it. You did well by helping him battle the 'demon'

Gaki I am so touched, esp. because I have been so DEPRESSED since my dad died. It is really sad that he got to this spot, but life was never meant to be EASY. I just feel horrible that sometimes people give up when things are about to change for the better.

Man, I didn't just wanna believe this the moment I saw your post last week... RIP Champ! 😥
This is extremely sad. I lost my mom in February 22 through depression, she was at her lowest and tried to commit suicide 3 times. She latter succumbed to high blood pressure and internal injuries due to something she had consumed earlier on. Mental illness is real and ain't no joke.
Anyone going through mental illness I advise you keep fighting; remember Eliud Kipchoge's quote ' no human is limited' . Nothing is impossible. Keep fighting like me and my 8yr old brother.
Reflect on what you love, this is what keeps me going and my little brother is one thing that makes me feel better about this life.

Depression takes you in a really really deep dark place, it’s no wonder without help people give up. It’s sad, we as a society need to support people with depression (mental health), instead of stigmatising them and adding more pressure to already vulnerable individuals.
Thank you Abel for featuring this story. Truly a sad one. I can relate, I lost my brother in December 2015 through suicide....a brilliant mind he was....
Indeed it's a mental health issue... people shy away from such but I truly believe by the time someone is reaching to that point of taking themselves out, they are not themselves..
May Polycarp's soul rest in peace and I pray that his family may find peace and comfort.
As a mental health nurse myself, thank you for highlighting this issues as the highest number of death through suicide are men. Poleni and keep up the good work
Wah, this is so heavy, I'm a few minutes in and I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you and his family. I am so sorry and my sincerest condolences. It's Never easy to understand or tell depressed person cause they always hide it with smile for they really try to look okay which differentiate them from a stressed person. Its good to accept that it's okay to be not okay, secondly to be ready to share and pour our heart out,not to worry about how people will say. This is a special therapy towards finding the solution to heal from the pain.

The church is the first to you push away, followed by other family members and lastly friends leave one by one, before you know it your all alone, doubts, pain guilt shame, suicidal thoughts start to kick in to the immediate family that is left all at the same time. It will take time to get into terms with it, you never forget but you learn to live with the memories.
RIP Polycarp
