HK is capitalism and the mainland is communism and just because they are Asians in the same region does not mean they share a certain degree of cultures. They speak different languages and have different currencies, just to name a few. If you ever went to HK, you will realize they believe Hong Kong is not China. Immigration is different from just "searching the vastness". If "similar cultures" makes all the difference, Taiwan would have been a part of China already.

@@kinghowong907 I don't really care. People from Hongkong or greater China in general are prone to the ideal of 'working hard" and are expected to be content with their social economical status. Rarely do they question the system, and, should the occasion arises the majority favour authorities as results of the absence of convicted reflection. Even for those who opposed the government, most of them solely disliked the "image" of the gov without any thorough justification. Capitalism for them is just a better way to govern, not to liberate.
Because they got more paid for the same job than their home country or the Hong Kong locals and some of them came with greed. You will wake up, when you trying to find the same treat/respect from their country.

I think people from other countries have a different point of view and that helps the companies in HK to think out the box, foreigners are more open minded, it's no just about working hard, its also about bringing in a different perspective and mindset. My son is born in USA, he took a 6 months campus abroad program in HKU, he was given a "C" on two computer science classes when asked about his view about the world wide web, my son's view about "WWW" came from his summer intern experience at Amazon and designing several websites for major corporations in US and how to do computer coding, our family also own a successful computer hardware and outsource business in California of which my son worked part time since he was a kid, so I am pretty sure my son's point of view about "WWW" does not deserve a "C" in HKU. So, he tried to make an appointment with the professor to try to change his mind about his grades and the HKU professor told my son to take a hike, even refused to meet with him. The professor probably felt that my son didn't understand the meaning of "WWW" when my kid flew directly from Seattle headquarter of Amazon before he started his campus abroad program in HK. I felt the professor vision of what "WWW" meant was behind and when he was introduced with a different perspective, he resented it by rewarding someone else with a different insight with a "C" grade. Upon my son's return to USA, this HKU "C" student became a Google employee. Maybe this explains why HK has to hire foreigners to help educate students and in work environments to help everyone to think in a international level. Sometimes it not all about hardworking, there's more to it.
It is shame that companies in hk prefer to pay higher salary and better benefits to hire expats for higher positions. Compared to people I work with day in out in the US, HK people are more hard working and smarter in general.
Cause the Expats know each other's cultures. Hong Kong people are smart and efficiency. Best for development and cost management. But sales and other positions that need to interact with other company's upper management, really need the expats.
Hong Kong people are definitely harder working with better attitude in general and a lot more efficient but not sure if they are smarter than people in US, I guess it depends on who you work with. I work with very smart people in USA.
So why did you protest it is because unaffordable house price and spaces to even move and long working hours. Thanks to the government and the business that tolerate the land shortage and working hours
When was this filmed? Interview them again please. At the end the interviewers say “let’s keep working tomorrow”. With all the disruption, the only people able to function properly would be the interviewers/ journalists

@John Wick 岩呀。當某d港人爬到可以同外國人打交道的位的時候，就代表佢地已經好成功。唔係講緊誰大誰惡誰正確，而係講緊上進心。既然東方人生意頭腦唔夠西方人玩，唯有從錯誤同失敗學習，摘其善者而從之。
不過如果講工時同埋上司下屬關係，我個人覺得西方會好dd。第一佢地唔會OT,第二就係上司有錯，下屬可以唔洗怕，照直講。因為東方人有"面子"哩種概念存在，所以搞到下屬有野都可能講唔到。我唔係叫現時香港的上司唔好要面子，而係講緊佢地要睇情況，例如上頭讚佢唔好淨係自己領曬工，都要提下自己下屬。下屬做錯唔好淨係識屌人，正面d鼓勵下下屬。要同西方人抗衡，唯一方法就係自己人做好d，上司多諗下下屬的感受。特別係而家年輕一代，淨屌對佢地係冇用。比d耐性教。
而點樣先至係成功?當我/同我有同樣想法的人唔再崇尚西方工作環境的時候就係成功啦。長工時已經係冇得改，但至少d主從關係做好d。咁樣本地人就唔會諗移民/去外國做野。無奈我見到老一代都係好古板，完全冇改的跡象。成日話與時並進，其實唔至科技，處事手法都要變下。如果科技進步左，但d人都仲係舊時咁，咁係冇意思。因為進化永遠都只係進到一半，而無法進入下一個階段。
這就是我們所說的歷史
