They were semi-finalists in WDSF European Latin in 2012, behind couples like Zaytsev-Kuzminskaya, Langella-Moshenskaya, Zanibellato-Abildtrup, etc.. for some reason, they decided to switch to WDC, and they still can't manage to get into the final. They are behind couples whom they were beating comfortably in the past. Why is this good for them?
Because no matter the result, they are competing against better dancers and adjudicated by people who are champions in their day and actually know about quality dancing. That is why.
@@paulburrows5022 I'm not quite sure that Damir Haluzan or Klemen Prasnikar are better dancers in 2021, than Langella, Zaytsev were back in 2012.. whatever, it's their decision, they must stick with it, I'm just not sure it was a good one..
@@levente.k333 Honestly I would rate both Damir and Klemen above Joel, but I am still a big fan of Joal and Kristina and do admire the courage to make the cross to the WDC. Though getting lower results in the beginning, their results are getting better and they are close to becoming finalist, just a matter of time I believe. The WDSF professional division is dead, this is why dancing WDCAL is beneficial to Joel and Kristina
I'd point out that European Latin was held in Spain that year, and while it certainly wasn't the only reason they made the semi-final but it definitely played a part. To further that point, Joel and Kristina didn't make it past the quarter final in a major WDSF competition (European, World, Grandslams) ever again after that, and then made their switch to the WDC. Perhaps they had stagnated, one cannot say for sure because we do not know their training, trials or tribulations. Dance progression also isn't linear. Dancers can take steps forwards and step backwards, or other dancers will simply improve more. Damir and Anna for example were ahead of every couple except Klemen/Alexandria in 2018, but three years later and they placed 6th at this competition.
Sometimes It seems these sort of dancers reproduce a choreography previously studied and not interact with the musical elements. I've seen a couple reproducing the very same steps in two different songs. 😐
Their expression is so natural it is easy to enjoy their dancing.

I really appreciate how she is still doing basic bounce action. It seems many competitors today decided to get rid of it for the most part.
