  • Well this was a strange prompt to receive! PAW Patrol? Propaganda? How could that possibly work out. This is just a lovely story about puppies being policemen. There could never be an unfortunate undertone of a police state, with a strange judicial service. I mean.. I guess they DO handle every emergency service.. and they make a lot of weird decisions if it's for the sake of the resident population.. Huh. Join me as I overanalyse the the malicious outside of the wholesome as we cover just how making a kids film about the good police can be a slippery slope to some very strange executions. Ok, so I'm just gonna say it for everyone here. Chase's trauma is handled so horribly that it is offensive. You don't expose someone their trauma so they can get over it. That is how to handle someone's fear of spiders or something, NOT TRAUMA!!! If you did that to a traumatized person, it would just trigger the trauma, and they'll get upset, or at worst, have a mental breakdown and/or panic attack because of it. How did this kids franchise become successful? I don't understand.

It concerns me that you think that exposing arachnophobes to spiders is a good thing. It is not. I don't know what the heck you're thinking, but it further proves how bad ideas like the one in this movie can infect people and keep them from thinking logically. It is NEVER okay to trigger people's fears. It doesn't matter what the fear is. Arachnophobes have it so bad already as people keep thinking it's funny to use spiders as halloween decorations. But spiders are not scary. They are triggering. So it's really horrible to hear an already overly bullied portion of people get called out as the type that's okay to scare.
This is the harm done by children's media. I don't blame you, I get why you'd think it's somehow acceptable to target this one group when so many cartoons already do.

Exposure therapy is a way to learn to handle both some kinds of trauma and fears, but it HAS to be done by a licensed therapist and through slow increments. Also it has to be made clear and have a willing participant. Someone terrified of speaking in public does not get push on a 20k+ theater, they are asked where the limit is (let's say 5 people) and then, together with the therapist, they will find alternatives to make the it possible. Maybe speaking behind a curtain, then speaking with their backs turned, then with their eyes closed, then with the lights out... There will be a moment where the fear of speaking to 5 people will be less, maybe similar to speaking to 4, and when it is finally achievable to speak to those 5 people with little or manageable fear, they will start the process again with more people. Maybe 6 or jump to 7 (if the person wants and feels capable)
It is a long process that will not work if you just throw a person on the deep end in the name of exposure therapy.

Paw Patrol according to Film Theory:
      - Ryder (the kid) has a capitalist monopoly of all the emergency services and uses pups instead of people because pups are replaceable.
      - Apparently he also gives his technology to the villain (that purple mayor) to create the conflicts the Paw Patrol solves.
      - The water pup and the flying pup are slowly being discarded because Ryder (and the creators of the show) are giving their functions to the other pups.
      - And there's a chance all the talking pups are aliens cause why not?

In "Pups save the sea turtles" they end up building a whole tunnel to allow the turtles get to the sea and in the first episode of the Rubble centered series, the new mayor (Goodway's sister) forgets to build a bridge that allows the rest of the world access her town.... It's a shame the plot got taken and changed into something we were meant to agree with by a bloody Paw Patrol film.
Edit: Also, ik the world isn't entirely anthro dogs but I just think it would be cool for the sake of people being able to take my dystopian horror concept seriously.

Perhaps one of the most interesting takes I have read about the Paw Patrol movie comes from Ireland. There are articles published in Irish online newspapers, and they are rather scathing of Paw Patrol, and its propaganda, or rather the portmanteau "Copaganda". Much of the Irish publications call out the Paw Patrol as effectively a mercenary group, instead of hired to fight wars, the Paw Patrol is hired for civic tasks - police, fire, construction, sanitation, maritime rescues, and aerial rescues, because apparently, Adventure Bay has no civil services, and for that matter, neither did Adventure City. Paradoxically, Adventure City does have prisons, but I suspect they were privatised, which is where much of the Irish articles centre on - the privatisation of civil services, and deregulation, afterall, Ryder is a child labourer, and leader of the Paw Patrol, that effectively makes him a CEO. The use of animal mascots does work as a shield, no one would question why their vital services should he handled by a ten year old boy, and his adolescent puppies, because they are cute, I'll bet if Ryder and the Paw Patrol were government employees, the libertarians would would call this "Statist Propaganda", which is the role mayors Humdinger and Goodway represent - incompetence and favouritism, things to establish them as untrustworthy. Overall, I recommend reading the Irish Times, they have some of the most interesting things to say, when it to comes to privatisation running amok, Ireland knows only too well what that looks like.

Why do the dogs talk? HOW do the dogs talk? Why do they have human-level intelligence?
The theory about Ryders family being super rich scientists that genetically engineered super-smart talking dogs long before Ryder was ever born makes sense now.

Remember, when studios makes these films, there’s a reason why it’s called a “children’s film.” The filmmakers won’t care whether it makes any sense. To us.
They just want to make something with a plot that children can understand and hook them, in hopes that their parents (who don’t care either) take them to watch it. Something around the lines.
There’s a difference between a “children’s film” and “family film.”

13:55 Probably the entire paw patrol world considering how many lookouts they have stationed around.
Most of which are completely unoccupied because they only have like 2 or 3 other members.

Holy shit, I don't think that merchline was supposed to be a joke, or even an in-universe statement. That was just the writers putting on a smug grin and literally taunting the parents having to watch the movie with their kids. Paw Patrol exists solely as a tool to sell merchandise. Go into any store that has kids stuff. Clothing, toys, shoes, whatever. Paw Patrol will be there. It will be at all of them. While some generic 'merchandise' for kids is generally frequent, there is usually some variety. Maybe youll find spiderman stuff at one place, but a different superhero at another. Disney princesses are also pretty interchangeable. I suppose I'm not asking for literal children to understand the mechanics at play here, but the people doing it are twirling their mustaches a little too much these days
