Love this! The perfectionism in the planning community can lead to a lot of anxiety. Don't worry about not having a style, embrace the chaos. There will be a lot of people out there who vibe with that!

Came from my video and 100% feel like we are in the same boat haha. Your pocket journal is really cute even if you don't keep using it 🥰 I think putting journals to the side that are not vibing with us is definitely a great solution!

I completely understand where you’re coming from! Really, planning/journalling has to be whatever makes you happy and what you enjoy. If that means throwing out the current system, taking things more private, and embracing the chaos - then so be it! You’ve gotta do what makes you happy, screw everyone else and what they think ❤

i get you, especially about being done with the whole "planner/journal culture" thing and having a regular life where there's not many worthwhile things to talk about. i'm going through planner burnout too and lost approximately three weeks of memories because of my resistance to sit down with my book but i also don't want to change it or to get rid of the kinbor since it was (and still is) a really cherished gift that you gave me. i guess it's just not working for me anymore and i don't really know how to get around that.
i hope you find peace within your new book and i'm proud and grateful for you being honest in a community where most things are performative. do what's best for you, always ❤

It's definitely difficult, also to embrace and accept it! Know that you're allowed to toss things or repurpose them~ it's always okay!☺️☁️

I'm burned as well. I don't even wanna watch journaling videos. They're beginning to all look the same.

Ah sorry to hear that! I get what you're saying though! I still enjoy a select few people that I watch their planner/journal content of, but I do also notice a lot of similarities. Which is logical because people influence each other of course! I usually stay for the creator's personality ☺️

I’m right there with you. I find if planning is more of a chore than giving me joy, I need a break and there’s nothing wrong with that. You have to do what is best for you. FOMO is huge for me when it comes to planning as well. You are not alone. And as for your k-pop journal, that is brilliant!! I never thought of using one of my old journals to focus on my love of k-pop! So thank you for the idea!!

    • @OktoberJournal
      @OktoberJournal  Před 4 měsíci +1

Yess if it becomes a chore, it kills the joy! Nowadays I just dk what I feel like doing and if it turns out 'not as I wanted', then that's that. Not the end if the world. Ahh I've kept a kpop journal since 2018 and it's really fun~ it used to be a lot of actual journaling, but now it's mostly bday/anniversary/comeback collages☺️ glad you like the idea, definitely try it out💜

Good on you for recognizing that this isn't really your thing. It can be taxing on your self-esteem (and wallet). I think you will be happier for having made this decision. And guess what? This isn't going anywhere. If you miss it or want to try it again later or whatever...it's still going to be here for you.
I am trying to figure out what my deal is. I'm 50 years old and I've always been "a writer." But like you, I don't have a lot going on in my life (which I think is a good thing). But I still find myself getting the journal that just sits there. I've FINALLY stopped buying dated journals because that made me feel crappy when I would go weeks and weeks without writing. Wasted space. I've found an undated notebook and realized that the B6 size is for me. It's there if I want to engage but I'm not pressuring myself anymore. It's just not worth it. Life is too short. This stuff is supposed to be for ourselves, for self-reflection, for fun and enjoyment. When it's anything but, time to step away.
I hope that your system that you're keeping to yourself works...or that you find something (even outside of journaling/planning) that makes you smile.
Thank you for posting this video. It resonated.

Thank you so much for this comment! I'm glad it resonated with you, and yes I understand what you're saying☺️ It's always good to know where not alone with our stationery and planner struggles 🤭 All the experiments definitely took a toll on my wallet, more than I want to admit.

I can understand completely. I can’t watch the “perfect planner”. Life isn’t perfect how can your planner be? That’s why I really like to watch “Nicole makes Plans”, you should check her out. Instead of throwing your books away, take them apart, get rid of the used paper and use the other for grocery lists, scrap paper. It’s fun taking them apart. That’s what I do. lol. Well take care, I hope things get better for you.

hi! so sorry to hear you’re going through this :( i think i’ve gone through something similar a few yrs ago and it was really stressful.. idk if it was helpful for me but i remember using like a plain notebook and creating my own layouts bujo style which helped me think about what i want in a planner/journal. i also thought about what kinds of stationery i like in terms of items (for example i like the idea of stamps but i don’t use them bc they’re a lot of work and i’m lazy) and motifs (e.g., cats, sunsets). it really is a process though! you’ll see your “style” or “preferences” start to emerge over time, but i think you can also create a style you want to have but it’s more work imo but i digress. anyway i don’t think you have to have a style or anything just do whatever you feel like :) it also sounds like you like to keep journals around hobbies/interests instead of about what you do in a day and that’s totally ok! i wish you luck in your current system and hope it brings you peace :)

I'm using Flow's agenda this year. It's a pre-dated planner with a week overview on the left page and a subtely decorated blank page on the right. It's the best of both worlds. You can either journal on the blank page, leave it empty or use it as a to do list. You can even just put a sticker on it. No pressure. Even if you do nothing, it still looks pretty.

I totally went through that this year! It was the first year I spent so much money on planners and Im using none of them. I am using a stalogy a6 and it’s working. Nothing fancy. No elaborate setups. Just 2 pages per day for to-dos and to track calorie , and other things

I totally understand! I hope you’ll find joy in doing whatever you want :) I think that’s the most important thing, to enjoy the things that you do or want to create. If that’s chaos, then that’s perfect :) hope it makes sense. I will miss your videos though, but that’s okay too. Hope you’re doing well btw 🤍

There's nothing worse for me then looking at my sketchbooks and seeing all the blank pages I didn't fill 😩😔
The only difference is that I'm incapable of getting rid of them 😅 It's a "bad habit" I've inherited from my father, he always re-utilizes old notebooks if they still have blank pages 😅
Tbh, I don't have solutions for burnouts because most of the time I just wait for them going away, unless they last too much. Imo, I think sticking for blank journals might benefit you for a while because the dates might "force" you to write something or it would be a failure. With blank pages you're probably more free and you can add everything, even dedicating different pages for your others favourite things as well such as movies or series that you've watched or books.

Some people are, some aren't. I just don't have a very busy life, and I prefer it that way. I used to, and I definitely needed a planner back then. So I'm glad I now found something that works for the non-busy life I have, where I can still enjoy the hobby of planners, journals and stationery☺️
Not entirely sure where the surgery comment comes from though?
