  • Track riding is something that comes as second nature for us so of course we had to take our 2020 Yamaha MT-03 to the track for a proper shakedown. In this episode, Bart and Mark find the limits of this awesome new bike.

    Our previous episodes and work led us to this point, the possible final stage of figuring this bike out before the true building begins. Is this one of the best beginner bikes on the market and how does it handle in a tight, technical course? Stick around as we turn a few laps and hopefully keep the shiny side up.

Also the 500cc engine of rebel gets to 80mph with no issues. I an not sure about the mt03 engine and highway. I bought a R3 as my first bike, which is pretty much the same bike as the mt-03 mechanically, and learned to do all my own maintenance. It's super rewarding, and something I highly recommend you do to learn your bike. And it's a very simple motorcycle and solidly built - so hard to really mess anything up permanently. Plus, Between TST and Sport Bike Track Gear they have videos on youtube that have walkthroughs of all the maintenance tasks. If you can turn a wrench, you can handle the maintenance yourself on this bike.

I've been riding since 1990, I guess I'm a long time rider but in these almost 33 years I had one bad accident in 94, after that I had to dump my bike once and I've tipped over because I lost my balance on two heavy bikes I had 3 times ...so am I a good rider, I don't know, I'm not a pro. But it seems to me you're very sure of your riding, be careful or you might find your self on the wrong end of a truck. Just sound advice.

  • @knightsljx
    @knightsljx Před 3 lety

    It's a great bike, but it's also kind of a pain to live with as well. The horn switch position is the worst, it's a small little button to the right of the signal switch, in a pinch you would never be able to reach it in time to warn others. The signal switch is squishy and lack any sort of feedback, so you don't know if you have turned on/off your signal by feel. If you got the colours where the tank is painted glossy, you have no grip on the tank, which causes you to keep sliding forward due to the forward cant of the seat. This is coming from a commuting centric Yamaha FZS-150, which has a far flatter seat. A lot of reviewers praise the MT-03's riding position and comfort, but it's all relative. The MT-03 is not as comfortable, if you're coming from a more commuting centric bike

    One of the most UNDERRATED things that "motovloggers" most always miss is... HOW TALL THEY ARE, and HOW MUCH THEY WEIGH. It would be GREAT to get some perspective / comparison, from the person on the bike...and yourself, the viewer. A bike has to pull a certain weight, based on WHO is on it, and a bike has to FIT a certain height, based on WHO is on it. Wish people would LEAD OFF w/ that..

    • @TSTindustries

    I'm loving my 2020 MT03. Been wondering if this is normal and/or fixable through a tune or something - I find the throttle to be... not jerky but when I very slowly roll off the throttle there is a point it just cuts/disengages and same when accelerating it's like an on and off switch. From what I've read it sounds common on fuel injected bikes? I'm new to riding so could very well just be something normal and I need to work on my muscle memory.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Před 4 lety +2

      The R3 and MT03 have this nuance. The roll off is easily fixable by flashing the ECU and telling the computer to not cut fuel on decel. The other way on the opening of throttle there is some tuning magic that can improve this but it is easier just to learn the bike's nuances.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Před 4 lety +1

      There is no way to flash out ABS from the ECU. To really circumvent it you will need to get non-ABS R3 brake hoses, and connect your master cylinders to calipers. Then you can remove all the hoses and lines from the ABS but will have to retain the pump, or at least the circuitry from the pump so that you can still get speed data to your cluster and ECU.

      @TSTindustries  Před 3 lety +1

      Tires are like religion to some people. There are many good tires out there from various manufacturers. At the moment we like the Bridgestone R11 for the little bikes but you have to have the pace to keep appropriate heat in them, and I would not use them without warmers. We also tested and likes some Michelin, Pirelli, and Dunlop tires that worked well with some of our riders but not all. For better ground clearance you will need to get yourself track use rearsets. They make the bike less comfortable to ride but give you ample ground clearance.

      Something tells me here that you didn't watch the entire video. I often wonder why people ask questions that were answered in the video content. Like your previous tire question...that was answered. And the fact that the bike is pretty much stock at the shooting of that video was also remarked. At the shooting of that video the bike maybe had a couple hundred bucks retail value of parts on it. Beyond that episode we did invest several thousand dollars retail value into it. These builds that we do usually amount to triple to quadruple of the value of the bike itself in time, materials, and technologies.

      I don't know. Perhaps it would be easier to import it from Japan since it is so much closer.

    Can a 6'3'' guy ride this bike?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Před 4 lety

      Why not? You will have to change around some ergonomics though. Bart is 6'0" and is cramped on the bike. A taller seat would definitely help along with bars that are more forward than the OE setup.

    can we off abs like ktm390

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Před 3 lety +1

      The speedo system uses magneto resistive sensors on the wheels that route their signal to the ABS controller. There, the circuitry changes this signal to TTL logic and forwards it to ECU and dash. If you simply take out the ABS controller you will have no speedo data.

      @@TSTindustries a switch that could be mounted to the handle bar would be an awesome aftermarket part so we don't have to have the sensor dangling from the front wheel.

    Im 1,45cm can i ride one?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Před 3 lety

      Maybe if you lower the bike. That would require an aftermarket shock that can adjust ride height.
