  • France goes to the polls on Sunday in snap parliamentary elections. President Emmanuel Macron called the vote in response to his party's dismal showing in the European elections earlier this month. It's a gamble for Macron. He hopes to see off right-wing opponents - but may end up losing power. We spoke to DW’s correspondent Sonia Phalnikar in Paris about what's at stake for France.

People are frustated because in the name of immigration all criminals and extremist enter the country. Now local and other hard working business people (from outside) who invested are facing problem and uncertainty.
Some people do not respect local life style and culture they want to implement there religious ideologies (specific community). This is a serious threat globally for Science, technology and progress. I think french people have make a smart decision in the coming days ahead not just short but long term.

Macron's gamble to call for early elections following his party's defeat in the European Parliament elections is seen as a risky move that could benefit the far-right National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen.
Macron's decision has sparked large protests across France, with tens of thousands demonstrating against both the far-right and Macron's snap election call.
Experts suggest Macron's gamble may have been a critical misstep that could lead to major consequences, potentially normalising and empowering the far-right in France.
Macron's snap election gamble appears to be backfiring, as it has boosted the far-right's momentum.

Mostly all political decisions & public reaction are designed to address "current circumstances". There's nothing wrong with the mentality of "self-preservation". But people need to consider future repercussions. Being "lenient" with the Russian annexations & those gunpoint referendum introduce by Putin outside of his jurisdiction would certainly bring future problems not only in France or the Shengen Areas or the Baltics but the entire EU as well.

Macron's decision is purely political. Unfortunately, the problems are not political. The rise of the far right, or far left for that matter, has to do with prosperity. If a government fails when it comes to its citizens prosperity, said government should not be surprised if the citizenry looks for alternatives. The government in power can call the other parties populist, far right or whatever else they choose, but this name calling is merely a pathetic attempt at deflecting from one's own failures. Many governments have gotten away with incompetence, irresponsibility and total disregard for the well being and prosperity of their citizens, and it has caught up to them. What is the answer to all of this incompetence, irresponsibility and total disregard for the well being and prosperity of their citizens? Is it taking responsibility for their failures? Of course not, it is easier to call the challengers names. How pathetic.
