I understand why we northeastern had to face this kind of situation abroad two years back one of my friend from sikkim and nagaland who traveled to malaysia was put aside for questioned by airport security officials that they had to show a proof that they’re indian by showing documents and contact with embassy it’s really embarrassing to international embassies they don’t even promote northeastern part of indian to international community and also northeastern people are not much privilege enough like other Indian to travel abroad but your video had let it aware the international community that even asian face like us also exist as an indian , I encourage every northeastern to promote and travel more foreign countries and promote northeastern part of india wherever you go and also kind humble requests to Indian embassies to promote Northeastern people in International society starting from southeast asian countries (Malaysia, laos, Vietnam,Thailand,Philippines,Myanmmar,cambodia,brunei, Indonesia, Singapore)
It happen to me too but the person who took me for questioning had quite good knowledge about geo politics and ethnicity but of our neighbouring nations. He was aware sikkim was once a different country kingdom and he had knowledge of zomi and naga but the ones in Myanmar. But now when he questioned me I gave him a big example of one of the biggest ethnicity of malaysia that's Tamil I asked where are Tamils from he did mention india and upper parts of Sri Lanka. So I had to educate him that we too live in border regions and have ethnicity on dual nations.
Punjabi and Bengali are other examples too

I am Malaysian (Tamil) and I have watched many videos of North East India. Even the movie "Dil Se" was featuring North East India. Probably, the tourism video of Nagaland on the various tribes calling Nagaland home, is an excellent attempt at promoting the North East. The Hornbill festival plus the "Bamboo" dance of North East India has similarities with that of Sabah and Sarawak region, part of Malaysia on the Island of Borneo.

You believe what you see . Foreigners have a certain perception for Indian look, so them not believing is um.. obvious.
As, I do know Indian peoples who live in states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Megalaya, Arunachal pradesh and Assam citizens most of them from Northeastern of India country. They have fair skin and cute too to compair Indian dark skin from Southern Indian states. Hope if I have chances, I will visit yr state in Northeastern states of India soon. As I also come to know that there is Muslims community in the Northeastern states of India. Hopefully you enjoy yr visit to Malaysia🇲🇾 and if u have a chance try to visit Malacca the Historic state of Malaysia and try the delicious cuisine delicacies of Malacca.

Many other Asians know only about the "Bollywood" look of Indians (like Ankit, her friend) or the darker Indians from the south. Majority of Indians from Malaysia are from the south. I agree that more exposure abt NE India is needed. It's good that Ana is travelling & blogging so that more ppl become aware of NE Indian ppl & culture.

Except assam northeast people and it's area is not India or Indian. We are self administered tribal people but it's Britishers and Indian who annexed northeast. There's nothing Indian in northeast people and mainlanders look northeast and northeastern people as outsiders. And yes when Indian people have misconceptions about our own northeast people and discriminate then there's nothing wrong about people guessing and misconceptions about northeast people.History should be known to one and all. Instead of feeling proud we should ask history from our grand parents.
Before East India Company(Britishers), Not only Northeast but entire Other Indian states was princely states or separate states.It just Northeast became the part of India quite late, comparison to other states.And we should be proud of our ethnicity as well as being Indian.That's why Unity in diversity. Assam itself is a mini india there're many tribes that comes from Burmese, tibeto-burmese descent. Same for myself .Tribes like karbi, naga, bodo, dimasas ...do also live here that looks a bit different than the rest of assam
