I side hug everyone when I feel insecure about holding them in some capacity. Wether it’s worry about pressing against them like that, or smelling bad it’s something I do to people I like too
You can tell whether they’d be okay with a hug or not and smelling bad is a weird reason

It's friendly but by having arms naturally in between you it prevents it from getting awkwardly intimate. 👍
