    I hope you respond because its an old video. So the mechanical key grants you access to the car, but can you start the car with the mechanical key?

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před rokem

      Hi.. You can start the car by putting the key card in the slot above the USB port.. Best to do that after you put the mechanical key back in it..

    Is there a way to lock all your car doors with a dead battery?

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před rokem

      Good question and if I still had the car I would test that.
      Central locking should still work. If you use it to lock all the doors and get out on the side with the mechanical key. Assuming all the doors didn't unlock you can use that key to lock the last door. If it does unlock all doors you might be able to change that in a setting in the car.

    What happens if you take out your keycard while the car is on and leave the keycard behind and never switch off your csr.

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před 3 lety

      I'm pretty sure you need to leave the card there to put the car in drive or reverse..

      Renaults are pretty smart actually. I've tested this on a 2009 Megane (doesn't have handsfree card) and it didn't shut down the engine. As long as the car is in a ready position (engine's runing, or ready position in EV's) the car is ready to go. The only difference is that you can't stop it with only 1 press on the start-stop button, it will ask you to press twice to stop the engine.

      The procedure set out in the video should do. I've no other tips if the car doesn't recognize the key. The keycard in the video had no battery in it at all.

      @@JanBartSpang the key card doesn’t need a battery to start car because there is a small coil within the fob that connects with the car when in the slot. You can use a butter knife in the slot to trick the car and start it

      @@JanBartSpang I have a question...in cold weather, my car rakes forever to kick in, draining my battery. I'm looking for my glowplug coil light, so I can warm it more before actually starting the car. But it's only visible for 1 second when you press the start button, then the engine turns over, not giving it enough time to warm the plugs up. Any tips on over riding this to keep ghe plug light on?
      Please help.🙏

    Renault really thought this through didn’t they, lock only on the passenger side.

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před 8 měsíci

      That's for right hand drive cars only. It's on the driver side for left hand drive cars.

    • @albaPhenom
      @albaPhenom Před 8 měsíci

      LMAO, so they never thought to swap the lock position to the other side for rh drive cars basically?
      At least that kinda makes sense.@@JanBartSpang

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před 8 měsíci

      @@albaPhenom they would have to create an entire new part for it when this works.. It's not easy to crawl to the other side of the car but you could just reach in and open the driver for from the passenger side..
      The fuse box is also not moved meaning that the glovebox on Right Hand Drive cars is absolutely tiny compared to what Left Hand Drive cars have..

    Does this work on the ZE50 as well?

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před 3 lety

      Have yet to try it but I think so. There's a mechanical key inside the key card. Open the door with that and put the keycard in the tray in front of the USB sockets.

    Just a quick update in 2022.
    This works for **ALL** keyless Renaults.
    I have a Captur and my neighbour has a Kadjar and they both do exactly the same.
    Strange thing... It may be with newer models but to start your car you need to have put the key part back into the main body of your "key".
    Not sure if this works with older Renaults... But there you go.

    • @JanBartSpang
      @JanBartSpang  Před rokem

      Yes, it is the same system on the Renault range.
