Because these sarees are one of the costliest thing a father give to their daughter on their wedding... Which will be used slowly by them... And the daughter will also keep them with forever... Or may also pass it to her next generation, as I want my mom's 😂 It's my dream to wear her banarasi saree in my wedding 😅

No.. he wouldn't sell local products as his own he is a designer. He creates a design and makes it as per the vision he has. The cheaper banarasi sarees are copies of designer's product. Designer products are custom made for you as per your look, appropriate for the event you are attending with the best quality materials.. like why do you buy an original Versache and Louis Vuitton or swiss army instead cheap plastic chinese copy sold on roads. For originality.. its a personal choice and taste.

People are hating on designer clothes/sarees but today if Indian fashion is being seen or recognised globally it's only because of these designers.
Yes, these are very expensive and u could get the same in other stores for way less but that's not the point.
Sabyasachi is supposed to be a luxury brand for the rich and because of this , it's been the FIRST global Ethnic Clothing Luxury brand from India!!
Instead of hating it we should appreciate it!!
You don't have to buy sabyasachi, like I can never afford it but we can still appreciate these brands.
Also sabyasachi's craftsmen earn 20 times more than the normal craftsman, yet while keeping most profits to the brand which is necessary for it tk host ramp walks etc.
But It's designers like these that have raised the income of Indian craftsmen.

But unless there is silver and gold zari I don't think it's good to spend lakhs. You try selling this and you will get peanuts. Because it does not have zari like Kanchipuram. Banarasi is beautiful yes but if you are investing in lakhs, there should be good amount of returns. This has no returns. To ppl, it's just designer cloth. Or is the gold color motif, gold zari? If that's so then it's profitable. Else better to buy Kanchipuram Saree.
