I have 4 more farm videos from the same region right here if you want to check them out: www.mythaihomestead.com/farming-in-thailand-phetchabun-farms/
only 1 lettuce head per hole or more than 1..thank you!
@Tony Sutton Thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!
@Mathias Jayson glad I could help xD
Bro the link doesnt work :)
Link dont work but amazing farm simple
The people that disliked are jealous of how beautiful and huge your system is :p
Yell lots od sad people on youtube for some reason.
I grow hydroponic lettuce indoors in my office using a large pastry rack and the Kratky method, but I found it really interesting to see how this gentleman used rain gutters, PVC, a rain barrel, and a pump to make it all work. Really simple, and really successful. The floating foam for his seedlings was interesting, too. Looked like round holes for net cups in the gutters, so if he's not using rock wool, then I wonder how he's securing the plant in the net cup for growth? Thanks for sharing!
How is the kratky method working out for ya. U ever grow tomato that way.
@@KC08RAS - It works great. I grow romaine lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers all using the Kratky method. I grow the lettuce indoors, but the others are grown outside in a small greenhouse.
Wow that's very impressive. Thanks for sharing this Paul. I've never seen anything like that either
Thanks for taking a look. He has a nice setup there.
Absolutely amazing....
Very cool. Thanks Paul.
Thanks Mitch.
thanks for sharingPaul this nice looking lattuce farm amazing to see this way of growing fresh food
It seems to be a very productive system he has there.
Very nice farm. Good stuff 😍
Amazing farm love it lettuce looks good
The crop looks very good.
Wow a big setup for sure
It is a nice simple to run setup as well.
I think I learned more about hydroponics from your single video than I have from all the dedicated growing videos I've watched. 😄 Maybe we should research "the bug thing" because it is puzzling to have perfect lettuce outdoors anywhere, but especially in a warm climate. I suppose he could be spraying it like any soil/field farmer would do.
No birds, no bugs, no grass hoppers, it does make you wonder....lol
Well photographed, well done, the comment continued to follow strongly and strongly
That is one huge and well done set-up. He obviously know what he is doing. Like you no bug bites makes me a little nervous. Best wishes Bob.
It is a very nice setup he has there, he probably has a deal with the local bugs, maybe he is feeding them somewhere else...lol
I hadn't thought of that. You're right I'm sure. 😝

I have been curious about the availability of hydroponic equipment in TH! Thanks!
Lots of hydro stores in Bangkok.
Cool vlog. Would love to know more about the seed raising fom trays
I know there a specially coated seed that is designed for this setup, there not cheap compared to a normal pack of off the shielf seed, I assume you get them from a hydroponic store.

Thanks for this beautiful video, what type of lettuce is the purple looking one and is it easily obtain?
Bro this is so amazing, about to start same setup next to mexico city. Also in a mountain. Cheers bro! Question, what would you say is real cost per lettuce head, my calculation is about 0.5 dollar a piece
I like hydroponics. Years ago I saw a video of a Florida farm that sued the floating rafts. The people who harvested did not have to move as they pulled the rafts to them and harvested and removed the foam and pulled in the next one. I wonder how this guy is able to access the lettuce as it looks narrow. but still a great idea.
I was wondering how he could reach the ones in the middle as well. Floating rafts might be aquaponics, it is a common way to grow with aquaponics.
wow..
where do you get those gutter systems?
Thanks for sharing! Those Lettuce heads was really big! I guess that the high altitude and cooler temperatures give less bug problems? Or does he use chemicals?
They do get better weather for sure, but the question, how do they always keep everything bug free, do I really want to know the secret....lol
Chemicals ofcourse
What variety of lettuce was that?
Great set-up evidently not a wind prone area I would think a wind storm would do a lot of damage.
Did not think of that, I would think they would get good wind off the moubtains there.
Sorry if I missed it. But where are you? Very cool. Would love to go see it.
This is in Phetchabun, North Thailand.
What nutrient solutions they are using?
Shade cloth helps prevent bolting.
is that all plastic? I always like systems that are reduce plastic
Thats cool. Wonder what feed he uses.
Just the off the shelf hydroponic solution I would assume.
Do they also sell their seeds?
Insane,
Do you know what varieties of lettuce is this?
What about winter season ?
For the seedlings they use foam???? :0
❤🙂❤
What insecticide / pesticides he's using?
is this safe for the insects no net?
Pumps that are cheep have very little head and keeping head to a minimum means a lot of savings on pumps . I had to change mine and it cost me a lot to get one to lift a full 4-5 ft , And draining the tanks for change of water and chemicals and checking is Easterner if it is up some mine is about 10 inches with a bottom drain . I did not see or hear and aerator
There was no aerator, the water coming back in must be enough.
What are the flat, white rails made out of?
Plastic.
I had these gutter style hydroponics in my house last time. Grew too much chinese broccoli to even eat. I gave some to some rats to eat lol. 50 feet long gutters, 2 lanes of 5 gutters so 10 rows. I sold the metal frame as scrap metal already but i still have the plastic planting gutters. Literally too much veg to eat before they start flowering.
Too much is a terrible problem to have.
ACE,when did this vid go out ? its dated 21st feb but the comments say 4 weeks ago
The video has been unlisted for a month or more but just released to subscribers yestrerday.
@@lifeinthailand ahhhh ok,ii thought it was my jet lag trying to confuse my brain :}

They are called oak leaf lettuce. The purple and the green. I dont know the red one. Maybe it has red type too.
Does look like Oak leaf for sure.
@@lifeinthailand If you could find orchid farms there are many orchid enthusiasts like me who would be very interested to watch. Thanks
hey i would guyes they gif somthing with the lettuc somthing with the water chemicials?
Its hydroponics so yes there is hydroponic solution in the water, it is possable that it is organic now but I bet it is not.
