    Terrific video! I got in early on the Beachman 64, and I’ve had the same positive experience with bike, the founders, and the community in which I ride it. It’s so much fun to ride. I hope more people get to share the same experience that you and I are sharing. Be well.

    Thanks for posting this video, Simon. I just put a deposit down for the newest Beachman Aviator bike that's coming out next summer. I cant wait. I've always wanted a cafe racer style bike. Right now I'm riding an old Emmo Knight GTS, but the range is deplorable. Looking forward to the 90km range and less anxiety, lol!

    This was awesome to see! I got mine two months ago and it’s been so fun. Do you have a video of you putting the mirrors up? For some reason I cannot for the life of me get them on!

      Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it, I really love mine. I never filmed putting the mirrors on, but I know I had a bit of an adjustment period too when I first installed them, and had to redo it a few times. Best of luck!

    Hi Simmons,
    Your bike is amazing.
    We met in the parking lot Tuesday at the doctor in Laval.
    I'm the guy who asked you about your bike.
    And I told you that I took pictures of it.
    As soon that i was at my home
    i went on the beachman site to verify the electrique bick
    And my god, I think that I'm going to buy one.
    Thank you Simmons.
    p.s. The video that you made is fabulous.

    Great video, man! I’m in Montreal\Mile- End and I’m looking for an e-bike to commute to work downtown/Quartier des spectacles. I was considering getting a Super73 R Brooklyn, but the Beachman has a lot more features, look better and is 1000$ cheaper, soooo I might pull the trigger on this one.
    Question: you seem to say it’s unsafe to ride in the winter and I was surprised by that, especially since we now have bixi all year in Montreal. What do you mean? It’s the tires or you feel the bike would not feel safe in general? I would mention also that I have access to an indoor parking for bikes at work… that’s certainly an important factor for me.
    Anyways, thanks again for making this video. It’s pretty much the only real review on CZcams (which worries me a little).

    • @simon_jakobsson
      @simon_jakobsson  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey! Yeah I was looking at the Super73 as well, but the Beachman was a better option for me. Nothing inherently unsafe about riding it in the winter (and the company sells more rugged offroad wheels too), I just don't like riding it when it's too cold outside. It would have been the same for all bikes for me, I don't ride bixi bikes in the winter either!
      I made this video because I think it's a cool bike, and because I wanted to make a video as a little project. It's not sponsored or anything, and I think that it maybe speaks to other, bigger manufacturers essentially buying influencers to do their advertising for them. I'm also guessing that there are many fewer Beachman bikes out in the streets compared to bigger manufacturers. I'm just speculating though, I don't know for sure. Happy riding!

    • @simon_jakobsson
      @simon_jakobsson  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Check with Beachman directly, there might be variations or new systems since I got mine and I don't want to give advice that will void your warranty without leading to the intended result, or worse yet damage something on your bike. Best to ask them.

    OK 10/10 for dedicating yourself to making this video, the production is super high. Lovely narration and scenic.
    What I would have loved to have seen in the video as I recently bought an e-bike, Specialized Como 5.0 SL in yellow, is the specs: weight, speed, power. Just put it at the bottom like a subtitle for us nerds.
    Also no stills or silky montage of the bike, I need this!!! We barely got to see the bike! Also you removing the battery and putting it back in.
    Lastly I'm jealous I don't have your video edit skills. So overall awesome job.

    What is the top speed you were able to hit on it?

    • @simon_jakobsson
      @simon_jakobsson  Před 5 měsíci

      On a flat road with the off-road setting, around 50km/m (woohoo!). I have hit 38km/h without disabling this setting, but that might have been down a slight hill. It's too cold not for me to test it, but check with Beachman directly, they will know specifics in case anything has changed since I got my bike.

      I had used electric scooters before, and a regular 50cc moped when I was 15-16, but this is my first electric bike. It's been great for me. Maybe it goes without saying, but you'll need to understand traffic and traffic laws, wear a good helmet, and be careful. Have fun!

      @@simon_jakobsson What is the helmet that you're wearing? Do you have a link to it? Looks very cool.

      @@NonCZcamsrYouTubing Thanks! It was a little hard to find, I think it may have been discontinued, but the model is called "Biltwell Gringo - Brite Silver Mega Flake", and I got it from Perth County Moto. I originally saw it in gold sparkle and it looked awesome, but the one I saw didn't have the face covering part and I wanted to have the added protection. I could only find it in silver, but I'm super happy with it, it's awesome. You need to buy the plastic shield extra, but they're not expensive. Another really nice helmet is the Bell Bullitt, check that one out too.

    • @simon_jakobsson

      I have been halfway through a ride once when there was a surprise, moderately heavy rainfall. The bike was fine. I've never been on the bike below maybe 4 degrees C. I'm sure you could do it, but unless you wear way better gloves than the ones I have it won't be very fun for your hands!

    great looking bike but it stops there......500 watts is way too small for the price...5k is way too much for any ebike unless its custom built....I have 3....2 scooters (kinda vespa looking) and 1 that i built.....cost me the same as that and looks just as good. and mine has a bigger notor and batt.
    I love the whole concept of using one.....but they are just not there yet in terms of range vs price tag....you can get a brand new motor cycle for 1k more.....so to me a bike like this needs to be spec'd out like a moped or something thats 50cc and should be no more then 4k to be a viable option for the masses.

      As you can tell from my video, my focus is on the experience of riding this bike, and for me it has been pretty close to perfect. I have zero regrets. There are of course other options that may suit others better, depending on their needs and preferences, to each their own. Thanks for watching!

    Sounds like fun, but please be careful as this is NOT a legal bicycle in all parts of Canada. There are three classes of e-bikes here in B.C.: class 1 (pedal assisted bicycle, speed-limited to 32km/h, no throttle) class 2 (pedal-assisted or throttle, speed-limited to 32km/h), and class 3 (pedal-assisted or throttle, and can reach speeds up to 45 km/h). Only class 1 is considered a bicycle for use on bike lanes and certain trails. Classes 2 and 3 are legal to dive where motor vehicles travel, but need to be licensed, but are forbidden on bike paths. I have not seen this being enforced in any way, until an accident occurs. Recently, a class 3 e-bike struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on a shared bike path. As the class 3 e-bike was not licensed (and therefore carried no insurance), and was riding on a path forbidden to such vehicles, this turned into an ugly legal mess for the e-bike rider. Therefore, bicycle shops are now reluctant to work on these bikes and I have to have my off-road class 3 e-bike serviced by a motorcycle mechanic. Obtaining parts for my bike is also expensive as they need to be imported from the U.S. or China. I love cycling and I now have a class 1 e-bike with which I commute 64 km every day to and from work. It is great fun, and I love it as I still get a decent workout.
