    These videos are super helpful! I’d like to recommend including title pages or clear summaries of the various options etc - given the length of the videos.
    Also if you’d ever be open to inserting pics/clips of example/places you’re mentioning, that’d help to break up the video a bit too! But I enjoy the listenability of the series
    Looking forward to more of your videos. Do you mind me asking what type of visa you & your husband are on & what you do for work?

    Hi Katy, thank you so much this video was super helpful. Myself and my partner are considering moving to Dubai from the U.K next year as he’s a teacher. We would be coming over with our son who will be just over 1 years old.
    Do you know if there are many expat families in Dubai and if there’s much to do with kids? ☺️X

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před rokem

      Hi Nicole, thanks for your comment and sorry the delay!
      Yes absolutely, there are soooo many expat families here in Dubai. 💛 I personally think that Dubai is a great place for kids - super safe, amazing education and sooo much to do! I’d like to think one day I’ll have children here and I’m already excited about the diversity they will be exposed to!
      Summers are really reeeaaally hot, and winters are gorgeous!!! In the UK I felt like I could only be outside for 3 months of the year 😅 but in Dubai I feel it’s the reverse, and you have to be inside for 3 months (Jun-Aug).
      I love living here - I’ve only been here a year but feel like I haven’t scratched the surface! I live in downtown and there are lots of families here, but most families tend to live in communities as they have lots of safe spaces for kids to enjoy ☺️ good luck with your move!! xx

    Great video! Thanks for all the advice, planning on moving there was thinking either UK or UAE, definitely more sold on UAE now. How long do visas usually take to process and what would you say the overall vibe of living there is like? Cheers 🔥

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před 2 lety

      heyyy, oh how exciting! i absolutely love both the UK & the UAE, maybe i'll do a video on the pros & cons of both places 🤔
      my husband's visa took around 3 weeks from start to finish (which includes the health screening & having fingerprints taken, all the way through to receiving his emirates ID card).
      Overall vibe of dubai is honestly whatever you make it 😃 if you like lazy beach days & early morning coffees & staying fit + healthy, dubai can offer that. or if you like to party, socialise & are an evening person, it can offer that too! overall i'd say it's very friendly ~ there is a true feeling of 'more the merrier' here and everyone is invited. it's fun! it's hot!! and it feels really exciting to be here everyday.
      good luck with your move

    Hey, do you think its possible to make all of these steps including the opening of bank account before moving there ?
    If not then i assume one should stay at an airbnb before everything gets accepted then you can move in a flat ?

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před rokem +1

      Hey, thank you for watching! It's not really possible to sort out these things until you're here as you'll need to have your residency visa processed which includes having an x-ray, bloods and fingerprints taken. Once you have your emirates ID (which is the last step of your residency) is when you can apply for a bank account.
      Yes absolutely! Most people stay in an air b'n'b or a serviced apartment / hotel until they've secured a job and have a residency visa in place.
      Good luck! x

    Is it worth using the metro to get to the office or is it super rammed and sweaty (like the London tube)? (I'm considering where to live)

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před rokem

      hey! it does get super busy between 7-9am and also 5-7pm. sometimes you won't be able to get on the metro as there is no space, just like the tube. a lot of people i've met since being here told me they had planned to use the metro to get to work, but quickly changed their mind and got a car for ease. but metro vs car is quite a difference in price! 😬
      hope you find your home soon!

      @@zzFishstick A few weeks ago I couldn't get on the metro at 6pm so I went back to the ticket counter and bought a 'gold' ticket (which is equiv to first class) and I got on straight away but it was still rather cramped and no seats were available for a 40 minute journey. I love the metro, but not in rush hour haha! =)

    Can/should you negotiate the rent price? Or is it more just how often you pay etc?

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před rokem +1

      Hey! yes you can definitely try to negotiate the rent but to be honest, there are so many more tenants than there are apartments, and this has been the way for about 12 months now. so you might potentially miss out on a good apartment that is priced correctly, if you try to negotiate!
      i didn't personally negotiate on my rent but that's because I had done sooo much research and knew the apartment was a good one, that the price was correct and that if i didn't take it, someone else would!
      it seems lots of people want to move to dubai so i can't imagine that the market will change anytime soon. xx

    Is renting a hotel apartment for a year would be a great choice? & can we make a living with neobanks instead of dubai banks like paying rent straight from neobanks?

    • @katypriscott
      @katypriscott  Před rokem

      hi! i would personally rent a long-term apartment, rather than a hotel apartment - just because the price is likely to more for a hotel apartment. but if it suits your lifestyle better to pay more, and have all the wonderful things that come with a hotel apartment (maid service, % discount on food, repairs & maintenance etc) then go for it!!
      neobanks aren't widely used here yet - it is unlikely you'd be able to pay your rent via neobank. cheques are still the most commonly used method, and direct debits are slowwwwly being introduced.
      thanks for watching! x
