Secretly john Lennon, paul McCartney, mick jagger & many greats admired the kinks greatly!!!
Why Secretely? Paul McCartney was a big fan of this song
Thank you! Great band, Ray is an amazing songwriter and Dave is brilliant. The original band had something special.
Couldn't agree more!
Ray’s ability to write so many diverse songs is mind-blowing! He’s brilliant, alright!! 👍👍
The band endured until '95. I saw two of their last shows ever in the U.S (Westbury NY) in '95 and they were in top form. Best band ever. While some of their later albums were spotty, you could always find gems.
This song see my friends is absolutely gorgeous and ive never heard it before. Huge kinks fan, not only are they the first proto punk and hard rock bands they are the first to do raga rock and to be jnfluenced by indian classical, then the beatles would famously incorporate these elements.
Thanks for watching and commenting Christopher
Fantastic! Ray turned up one night at the pub I was DJing at, he signed my copy of 'She's Got Everything'... He couldn't remember the tune! A true gent... Gave the single to my mother-in-law cuz she's batty about The Kinks as well... 😂
Music cant be better they are the best
Thanks for watching and commenting Anders 🙂
See My Friend.
Astronomically emotional, pivotal , classical gas of a song !
There is no song like it.
It stands among the giants in my mind and heart.
Look at Ray ; he has absolute mastery over this song.
Impeccable.
God Save the Kinks! Nothing wrong with this collection. Shows the spirit and creativity of this sophisticated band.
After years of gazing at the Kinks, there's something in the facial structures of the Davies brothers that is positively cinematic. Big , strong heads, massive manes of thick dark hair, prodigious noses those lads, they would've looked great in a brutal late 60s western or a sword and sandal epic movie, damn, what did we miss?
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
65' with those ruffled white shirts ,and the rarest sound of all !!!!
Got to love the Kinks!
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Imagine Dave being 18 in 1965. What an awesome feeling it must have been.
Kinda kinks album would always be my favorite kinks album. So many great songs
Best of all brit bands.Better writer than Lennon/McCartney.Long live the music of the Kinks.
No way.
without doubt
A bit too much Kool aid my friend. Very spotty albums pre-Something Else, total garbage after Muswell Hillbillies. It's one the to like an artist, or have a favorite artist. Another to be deluded. Nothing even in the same ballpark of artistic quality, impact, influence, of Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road. On top of that, a number of singles only on hits packages (e.g., Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, Rain, Revolution, Old Brown Shoe). Here endeth the lesson.
@@maxschut7093 The kinks influenced whole genres. Fantastic/amazing songs after Muswell imo - Celluloid Heroes, Supersonic Rocket-Ship, Sitting in my hotel, Sweet Lady Genevieve, Artificial Man, Headmaster(one of my fav rock songs ever), life on the road, sleepwalker, life goes on, one the outside, a rock n roll fantasy, permeant waves, in a foreign land, father christmas, catch me now i'm falling, moving pictures, in a space, little bit of emotion, low budget, predictable, destroyer, back to front, better things, a little abuse, art lover, yo-yo, around the dial, add it up, come dancing, property, lost and found, don't forget to dance, do it again, living on a thin line, summers gone, going solo, rock and roll cities, how are you, how do i get close, down all the days, still searching, to the bone. Just my fav, others will prefer different songs but yeah lots of great music was made after muswell.
@@michaelstewart7473 some individual songs after Muswell, yes, albums, eew.
Mind blown!!! Thanks ScottishTeeVee for this Super rare video! Glad I subbed to your channel.
GOD SAVE THE KINKS!

Early psychedelia.
A few have said that
Thanks for the great videos my friend.❤😊
In my humble opinion, this is The Kinks at the height of their powers!
It has been written that "See My Friends" is a veiled reference to Homosexuality.
Ray Davies was absolutely the coolest!
uhm “see my friends” is about dave and rays dead sister from what i know!
@@eltorito7068 so many backstories under the radar that we will never fully understand
@@A-Pa-s-Plainjane true!
As a swed i wish i could go back there and see them even if it was pretty short and i’m super proud of Ray from a introvert to another great job Ray i was tearing up and just cheering him on anyway i’d love to go back in time and see a full show too i’m a pretty new fan but my mom told me one of my uncels loved them and probably had some albums and some other stuff and i asked her if she meets him again can i have all of it if he don’t wanna have them anymore cause she Said she isen’t sure if he still is a fan of them

@@ScottishTeeVee your welcome love the video 💕🎧
I LOVE YOU!
Oh wow..
You enjoyed this Mick?
@@ScottishTeeVee love me some Klassic Kinks. Great channel!
I suspect this appearance is from the Swedish TV show: "Pop Side."
Popside didn't debut on Swedish TV until the summer of 1966. This is from another light-entertainment show called Drop-In (the same show the Beatles appeared in two years prior)
Okay, good to know. Thanks. I've see the Beatles appearance on "Drop-In" before.
Bitchen clip, cheers
Cute young guys starting out in the new brit rock.
7:07 Young Austin Powers was in the audience.
Wait a minute...
Was this even live back then?
I mean live, without playback in the studio?? 😮
It's not live, which is why I don't state "Live" in the title or video description.
Of course it's not live do you see a sitar anywhere? Nope
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist You don't hear one either - they didn't use one on See My Friend, only guitars
sanx kinks
It's funny...I can picture Willie Nelson doing this song.
So what band are you in?
If only Britney Spears was around during this time of widespread lipsyncing...no problems for her.
Is this live? "My Baby" seems weird, Ray has no mic, and Dave seems fake singing. Thoughts?
I think it’s live vocals with studio backing track, including studio vocals.
It is all mimed.
Not live, mimed
Are you sure?😆
@@ScottishTeeVee Oh yeah. The first 2 songs at least just can't be live. Listen to the guitars!
Shook Ray’s hand at Tramps one night...
And saw Dave for free at the WTC...
I talked with Ray and a woman on a ferry beetween Okland and San Fransisco early 76 I was so nevous I almost set fire to an ashtry But he was gentle and we talked about the folkparks (small outdoors arena) in Sweden
THE KINKS ~ September 1,1965 TV Cirkus Television Studios Stockholm, Sweden.
TV ~ "DROP~IN" lip~synch ~
Set Me Free
Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight
See My Friends
Quote by RAY DAVIES ~ "I'm ashamed of that song [Set Me Free]. I can stand to hear and even sing most of the songs I've written night after night, but not that one. It's built around pure idiot harmonies that have been used in thousands of songs."
Man, I love you Ray, but I respectfully disagree!
"Set Me Free" is my all-time favourite "Kinks" song!
Thanks for the details
@@ScottishTeeVee
You know, one of Ray Davies' biggest regrets is that he didn't give credit to his first wife Rasa Dicpetris Davies for her Vocal Harmonies on Kinks songs.
Playback😥😥😥
Looks like lip synch.
Not live.....lip sync for TV purposes....
Are you sure?
Yep
@@ScottishTeeVee Yes, it is obvious if you know the records.
Yes. All lip sync'd. But they do it well.
Definitely not played live. Dave Davis is not playing the lead guitar parts that can be heard.
I was never a big fan of the Kinks when I was a teen, they seemed more of old time music, to fuzzy,no crispness.
You were missing the mushrooms
Not a great selection of songs by the Kinks. With 1700 to select from they should do better.
see my friends at that time was phenomenal song venturing in new and unexplored musical land. Allegedly the beatles decided to consider the use of sitar after having listened to this song
See My Friends a great obscure song!
What mediocre tripe. Who could not do better. A very mediocre ability group they were. Bar a number of very good songs, which makes them a good average. Davis should not be greedy or jealous, and acknowledge the Beatles and Who and Bob Dylan were genuinely superior. Only those with appaling taste or ignorance would say different.
Your comment is like your channel--EMPTY
Only those with appaling taste or ignorance would say different.===== MIDWIT ALERT!!!!
This is a pretty aggressive post, I really love the works the Beatles, Stones, Bob Dylan and Kinks came out with. The Kinkis came out with a lot of very English songs after their initial performance proto heavy metal songs. “See my friends “ here is a pioneering Indian sounding song with that drone running through it as a precursor to the Beatles and Stones using sitars. The last two songs are competent pop. There were before stuff like Dedicated follower of fashion when they went English
That's not a critique, it's an attack. What really upset you?
@@livinghere1972 Only my first sentence of my previous post was very critical. I was reacting to the post starting “what mediocre tripe” which was grossly unfair. The rest of my post was a relative critique of the groups concerned. Case of pot calling the kettle black.
