Intrinsically Empty, Naturally Radiant, Ceaselessly Responsive
“When compassion and emptiness are both present, enlightenment is unavoidable.”
A lucid discourse on the virtues of emptiness, awareness, and compassion, and the fundamental role these qualities play in the unfolding of the spiritual path. The heart-mind of awakening, known as Bodhicitta, is explored on its relative level of compassion, and its more ultimate level relating to the empty and aware nature of the mind itself.

"Sometimes compassion manifests as the willingness to learn," and then he goes on to say how IMS has undertaken an effort to learn, across many years, what they may not have known about issues of race when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion. May we all undertake the same process to play an important and necessary role in ending the suffering of racism that so many of our brothers and sisters have endured for centuries. What a great example of applying compassion. Beautiful, the whole talk was beautiful!

I guess it's a matter of perspective. Paul Farmer and Joespeh teach, "The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world" Yet, Joesph, I suspect Paul and even his unholiness, the Dali Lama, eat animals and animal products. In my unpopular opinion, one can not take the moral high ground of being compassionate and awoken when one is responsible (as many of you are) for the unthinkably horrific lives and deaths of other beings. Isn't a life a life?
Kinda makes sense, doesn't it? While I am surprised these wise men have not figured out what some children understand at the age of 4, it seems to me that they (and perhaps you?) have two choices. Qualify your statements of compassion or live up to them. A lack of compassion is only exacerbated by hypocrisy.

really? you missed the whole point of his talk if this is your question!! Okay, let's say he is chewing gum, so what and who cares? how about a little compassion for someone who may be nervous to speak publicly like this, perhaps he gets dry mouth from nervousness and needs a cough drop or gum. Try listening again! to the whole talk! ___/\___
