I'd like to get this just to see how you detailed my home city Damascus.. Since about the early 2000's I dreamt of a map simulation that would have Damascus mastered with precision. But never knew it would, unfortunately, come only after one of the bloodiest wars in the modern history.
The new Microsoft Flight Simulator should also have the city modeled very well. Everything we've seen so far about the environments in MSFS is jaw-dropping.

Are we ever going to get officially supported desert skins for ground units? This is the 3rd map with brown as a base color and we're still shooting at tanks like they're hiding in the forests of Georgia.
My DCS install takes 250GB, maybe 275 in a few days with the addition of Syrian map. But it's desert, desert, and desert with water, I prefer forests and mountains, so I'm stuck in Caucasus. so 40GB really used.

It was announced long time ago that Phantom will not see a light of DCS World anytime soon. If remembering correctly they have no access to all vital technical charts to make a competent module.

Absolutely beautiful! I am impressed by the fact that each new release/video continues to impress me more than the last. Also, give a huge shoutout to whoever is working on the damage fx. The new flames (as seen in the channel and ww2 guncam reel videos) look absolutely on par with various shootdowns captured on footage from real life. Amazing work. Also, pls gib flying tank of the motherland :D Syria obviously deserves low level action!
I didn't see it in the credits but this video screams Xstounds. Amazing trailer, on the edge of my seat the whole time. Loving that Mi-24 and AH-64 shot. Hope the Apache is truly coming some day soon.

Ugra Media did a fantastic job on this Syria map and I must admit it looks more detailed, scenery rich, perhaps the best of dcs maps from what I have seen. I look forward to doing low terrain flying in those gorgeous valleys dodging SAM radar and missiles. I hope I would be able to get playable framerate in VR here. Kudos to all involved. Cheers.

@@merkavamkivm3373 - I can't speak to any electronic upgrades Israel may have made, but since the airframe is based off the 'E' model and I identified it solely based on the expanded fuel tanks on the sides of the intake ports, I'm not worried about it. As the devs are loving the comments mentioning the 'E', my statement is accurate. If we end up getting an even better version of that airframe, I'm not complaining. 👍

Apache and F-15E are AI assets that have been in the game for a while. The Hind is the new playable module (looks *amazing*), and the SA-5 will be a new SAM asset.
This map is going to be amazing. So much potential here. Kudos to the video creator - really sells the map, and also to Ugra Media for making it. My inner voice, in Matt's voice: "Hmmm, what's the Hind doing there?" "Hmmm, what's that SA-5 doin' there?" "Hmmm, what's that Strike Eagle doin' there?" Me: "Hmmm, this would be a great place for an F-4... Ooooh, what's that Su-34 doin' there?"

Reminder that the Apache and Hind are both rated bulletproof for up to 50 cal fire. Just saying so that we don't get stuff like 7.62 killing the pilots, which happens in war thunder... too many times. Update: only the latter half of the comment is sound, i just hope the damage model is thoroughly worked.
An apache is not bullet proof to 50 cal. Pretty much the only part that is armored is the pilot/cpg seat. Which covers a precious little area of their body. Basically just the torso. Legs exposed, arms exposed, head exposed.
@@killian9314 lol no its not. The only "strong" glass is the one panel of glass separating the two crew stations. So if one guy gets taken out the other guy doesn't. That can take a 20mm. Youd be surprised what the side windows are made of...spoiler alert its not glass and you can scratch it easily with your belt buckle.

@@timskeav I've been praying for this moment. The 2080 series does not justify its price tag. But we also need a new engine for DCS, perhaps Vulkan. The existing one is outdated and does not let our graphic cards perform at its fullest.

Unfortunately technological space race makes developers lazy. Why would you work more and optimise the code or prioritise new engine when the new line of graphic cards is coming.
Firstly, great trailer. Gets me hyped! Secondly, any update on the Vulkan API renderer? As impressed as we all are for these new maps, the graphical fidelity is starting to show its age.
If anyone from ED is reading this, are there any plans to introduce flyable aircraft like the B-1? I would really like to see some more bomber aircraft...also the UH-60...and the CH-47..they really are some of the most iconic aircraft seen on modern battlefields.
Looks like the fine work of Dominic Keller but I did not saw any credits in the video. They never miss a chance to credit so I think it is an inside job.
I am Syrian :), Brilliant work on the landscape and models, it is sad to see the name of my country associated with war games though. I guess it is a reflection of the unfortunate reality.
I don’t think they have the same budget as ubisoft or EA... and even if they did that would have not change anything of what is becoming war thunder srry...
I've been flying on this map since release now and while I had high expectations I didn't think it would be this good. This map has brought completely new possibilities to the sim that I've been wanting for so long. The terrain is so detailed, so varied and superb looking that you can finally terrain mask in completely new and advanced ways. It's a dream for low altitude flying including choppers that can now have a huge advantage by even masking while flying in the desert thanks to the desert actually having lots of sand dunes. Combine this with hugely detailed cities and foliage across not only the dessert but along the most beautiful lush mountain terrain in the game so far. This is, to me, a game changer for DCS. It looks superb from up high as well of course. It offers all types of flying you can think of and manages to open up game play not only in single player but also in multiplayer that no other map really offers. I'm really hyped and still only starting to explore it! /Wilbuz
1:16 the F-16c wing flexes in such a way that you can SEE the weight of the AMRAAM on the wing. Amazing.
When taxiing in the current F-16C you can see the wings flexing a little, just like real life video.
However, the higher weight of the AMRAAM helps with the wing buffeting but causes more damage in the wing root

@@timskeav I've been praying for this moment. The 2080 series does not justify its price tag. But we also need a new engine for DCS, perhaps Vulkan. The existing one is outdated and does not let our graphic cards perform at its fullest.
@@MK-ty3rh tbh iv'e not played for over a year as my 980ti is getting a bit long in the tooth these days, but your right about the 2080's being overpriced they took advantage of the mining craze with the 1080's and it seems the new £1000+ prices became normal almost overnight, but tbh i'm still hoping amd can come up with some graphics miracle like they did with the ryzen cpus cos i really want a new graphics card
Unfortunately technological space race makes developers lazy. Why would you work more and optimise the code or prioritise new engine when the new line of graphic cards is coming.

Secondly, any update on the Vulkan API renderer? As impressed as we all are for these new maps, the graphical fidelity is starting to show its age.
If anyone from ED is reading this, are there any plans to introduce flyable aircraft like the B-1?
I would really like to see some more bomber aircraft...also the UH-60...and the CH-47..they really are some of the most iconic aircraft seen on modern battlefields.

I've been flying on this map since release now and while I had high expectations I didn't think it would be this good. This map has brought completely new possibilities to the sim that I've been wanting for so long. The terrain is so detailed, so varied and superb looking that you can finally terrain mask in completely new and advanced ways. It's a dream for low altitude flying including choppers that can now have a huge advantage by even masking while flying in the desert thanks to the desert actually having lots of sand dunes. Combine this with hugely detailed cities and foliage across not only the dessert but along the most beautiful lush mountain terrain in the game so far. This is, to me, a game changer for DCS. It looks superb from up high as well of course. It offers all types of flying you can think of and manages to open up game play not only in single player but also in multiplayer that no other map really offers.
I'm really hyped and still only starting to explore it!
