I jumped up and down in joy in my room when Frentzen crossed the line. Frentzen and Eddie Jordan where special characters. It was great to see them winning.
We the fans should give an honorable recognition to Rubens Barrichello. He could've won the fan vote for Driver of the day had it existed at the time. I thought for a moment there because of the amount of laps he led all race long and the speed out of a Ford engine he was going to get himself and Jackie Stewart their first win as driver and owner respectively. Had Barrichello and Stewart have won, H-H Frentzen and Jordan wouldn't have had the chance to fight for the championship both driver and constructor. Barrichello as a driver and Jackie Stewart as a team owner both equal something so under rated, and yet they both deserve so much better than they did.
Actually no, in 1999, points where given to the top 6 finishers with the following model: 10-6-4-3-2-1 so if Irvine finished 5th, he would be 2 points short from winning the championship anyway (Because Hakkinen had more wins.) I know that this comment was posted 13 years ago
@@zanemarte9877 yeah, but last race michael was ahead of irvine, msc 2nd, irv 3rd, in that case msc would have let irvine take 2nd, take 6 instead of 4 points and irvine would have finished 77points to mikka 76, so yeah, tremenator is correct
@skrapid001 No 5th would have been good enough because in Japan and Schumacher would of moved over and let Irvine finish 2nd and he'd of won the title by a point.
Eddie lose the championship in maybe 3 races , nurburgring and the missing tire was one of them , another was in hungary where he was in 2nd position in the closing laps to only make a mistake in the closing laps giving david coulthard the 2nd position and wasting 2 points and finally monza were mika retired and eddie only could be 6th , eddie had the points to be champion by an small margin , but the only race i saw eddie driving as a pure champion , being quick , reckless and bold was in canada when he was hitted by i dont remember who losing a lot of positions having to do a comeback from the back of the field overtaking cars like a mad man .

nice to see eddie jordan signing the irish national anthem too
these were the great days , i remember i missed the the first 10 laps of the race and there was no playback or youtube to rewatch it .
wtf i also missed the first 10 laps of the race
Irish anthem played in honour of Jordan, but at every French GP from 1996 until 2005 British flag was put above Jordan pit garage. Strange
LOL!! Michael douglas standing for Amhrán na bhFiann
3:35 - Beautiful drift from Heinz-Harald
Isn't it ironic, if Irvine passed Michael and finished 5th, that would have been enough to win the world title at the end of the year.

That would've only been 1 more point to add to Irvine

Great race!!!
8:33 proud to be IRISH Amhrán na bhFiann!!!
@Tremenator
or maybe if they would not f*** up the pit stop when rain came (it was more 40 seconds in pits) he would be much higher
Good job, Frentzen.

@YukiNekoPrincess amhrán na bhiann or the soldiers song in english
Serves them bloody right for doing it in the contracts, and so early in the season.
Hakkinen could have definitely caught frentzen if he pushed. Unless he went on the wrong tires, he had the pace.
HHF 👍
COYBIY
This was the race Irvine lost the WC
No. It was at the Nurburgring when Irvine's pit crew screwed him over with that infamous missing tire stop.
