A couple of points - did you know there is a magnetic bit right on top of the fan where you’re supposed to store the remote? I bought a second remote off eBay and keep one on the unit and one for elsewhere. If you lose one then you’ve always got the other.
Regarding reliability - I use one of these on stage and have done twice every weekend for the last four or five years. Perfect for the gigging musician - cold air for when you’re inside, warm air for when you’re shivering under a marquee. Still good as new.
Bonus tip - when you use it in the bedroom it becomes an amazing way to dry off hair and body after showering. Also as it’s quiet it makes the perfect late night hair dryer.
    Ok I’m done.

For those who are disappointed for its cooling, it isn't a compressed "cooler". Meaning, its not the same thing as something like a car AC or a Window Unit, like he said, its depending on natural effects and it does not go through processing through the coolant (gas) like a A/C would.

I was just given a dyson air purifier today. I suffer from allergies and take a bunch of meds for it. I just stayed in the room for a few minutes with this thing on and I think I can probably even ditch taking medication. I feel way more different with this than the loads of allergy meds I take. Of course this is day one, but I feel a huge difference in the air I'm breathing in. Also, it's running at level 3 right now and set to Auto. I barely notice the sound and minus the found sound of running water from a distance.

The fan needs to be on setting 10 to actually be useful, but on that setting it's REALLY LOUD! I have a 40 yr old Sanyo fan on setting 1 (out of 3) that blows more air and is far more quiet.
The heater on the Dyson is nice, but you can buy a cheap $15 heater at 1500W (Since that's all an electrical outlet can permit) to do the same thing.
Out of 10, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for cooling and 3 out of 5 for heating = 6 out of 10.

I had a window open nearby and thought it was coming from outside but when I turned the machine off the sound disappeared. You know it is coming from the machine if you put your ear right up to the grill. This could get annoying at nighttime listening to that sound when you are trying to go to sleep.

I'm constantly moving it around to see if I can feel it.. it's $575 here in Australia and while I got it a little cheaper because I also bought the AWESOME Dyson outsize v11 vacuum cleaner I don't really think it was worth it.. oh well, I love my vacuum cleaner and I think the fan it works better as a heater in winter than a fan in summer - which we're in at the moment..

Firstly a fan does NOT cool the air. You feel cooler because ANY moving air that passes your skin will remove some of the heat from your body, partly through evaporation of sweat. Any moving air will do this, even the cheapest fan on the market.
Regarding heat, just look at the rating tab. If it says 2KW that how much heat will produce. No matter the cost. A 2KW heater will give THAT, no more no less. If it costs $30, or the rip of Dyson cost, it will still give you 2KW of heat. No more, no less.

But one adjusts to your desired temp as precisely as my Audi does and shut off when reaching desired temp and automatically turns on when temp drops off...while the other cheap heater burns up your room where you need to manually turn it off and on and it only has 3 heat setting. The more expensive heater that can also circulate air and have thermostat cost $150 and above and still not on par with Dyson heater.

When using extension cords for this heater. Its 1500 watts. That's about 12.5 amps. If you absolutely have to use one, make sure you get one that's rated for at least 15Amps and I wouldn't use one more than 10-12 feet long. People often ask what's the big deal? Well the thing is is that when you have a hot extension cord that has a sustained temperature for possibly hours at a time... doesn't take a genius to figure out how dangerous that could be, specially if you're using it in a space that is drafty and difficult to keep warm. If your cord doesn't say what amperage it's rated for, don't use it.

It's also impossible I'm afraid the motor produces heat - put it in a closed room and the heat will rise - there is no way around it - air blowing across you makes you feel cooler due tothe evaporative effect of sweat - as with any fan.

@@pauls9440 Also, because the turbine is doing work on the air, the air coming out is warmer than the air going in.

These are 1800 watts so I get concerned my wiring in my old boat will get hot like the cord does. Mine smells like burning plastic slightly and it's noisier then my others. Not worth the money in my eyes. And doesn't cool the air like they advertise. I do like how it tilts. I think this gan is louder then the 12 other heaters I have. I can run 2 1500 watt heaters inmy sailboat. But when I replace one 1500 heater with the Dyson 1800 watt heater it blows my breaker, not Dyson fault but thought you all should be aware. Other heaters work better for cheaper.

So this Basicaly we just paying for “DYSON” damn I’m upset. I thought this was actually gonna be a over the top new and good product. That’s my fault for assuming. But wow this was a let down. 80degrees in the room and fan blows at 75 degrees lol. That’s a regular 20-40$ fan...

A $17 fan at Walmart is loud but you’re not being fair with that statement. Your Dyson fan is set at 1. Set it to 5 or above and the sound becomes unbearable for sleep or for background noise.

    • @samjam6989
      @samjam6989 Před rokem

Why are you comparing a $17 Chinese made walmart fan to a hot and cool Dyson that has a thermostat, remote control and digital temp display where you can adjust the temp of a room and has an auto shut off and timer as well as it being fanless and have multiple modes for air circulation. That's like comparing a 2023 Mercedes Maybach to a 1980 Lada and saying well the Lada is cheaper and can turn on and go point A to point B. There is a reason why one is $17 while the other is $500. I mean people are not that dumb to spend 100x if it were the same. You can also buy a $10 dial up Walmart cellphone instead of iPhone, why pay so much for iPhone? They both can call and text.

It gets pretty hot in my room and was primarily looking for a top of the line AC. I love the Dyson brand too. But it seems like the AC aspect of this fan is underwhelming. If AC is my priority, is this fan not worth it?

These things are a pain in the ass to clean. You use that toothbrush you just push that dust to inside & you should take it apart & clean the two fan blade parts connected to the motor. Plus all the other dust that collects in it. Also on high it is very loud
