The video was filmed in Warsaw. I was on a night walk with a dog and this old bus was passing by me ... There were loads of cameras and I wondered what the song would be .... and here the radiohead :)

That would make watching this just a little sweeter than normal.
myfavoritedrime mycanal haha it is so cute memory
Is there Agata Buzek????Or am I wrong???
Yes, it's her :)
I'm 36, I had cancer 12 years ago, went through the most painful treatment a human being can handle, until the blessed day came when they told me I was cured. The thing is, when I was all wounded and down, only band I listened to was Radiohead, specially the OK Computer album, for some reason, this music kept me going, I can't explain it, it's magical. So now that this song comes up, for some reason all that energy of trying to survive a lethal sickness, all the hope that I had, all the love and patience I had to practice, all that came back, and jus like I PROMISED I will survive, I'm now listening to this masterpiece. I was meant to live, now I am married and have a daughter, back then, when I was sick, I didn't even know them, but now I'm grateful I Promised myself I will survive, I promised myself this too will pass. Thank you Radiohead for been there every time I needed you, back then when I survived hell, and now when I enjoy even the little things among my loved ones. Thank you Mr. Yorke.
DavMasters wordtaking....
christ... send this to Radiohead themselves, they'll love it
blimey, that is one of the most moving things I have ever read. What a testament to the power of Radiohead.
DavMasters Bless You.
have you told them?
Rediscovering Radiohead in your 30s is a totally different experience than in your teens.
Had the same notion..well said.
I bought the oknotok album because I just wanted a backup for my first pressing from 1997 and the bonus lp was a big suprise musically! great "new" songs!
Im in my 30s too, greetings from south america👍💪
Strange you ever left them. Timeless joy 👍
So true, I was thinking the same thing!
I dedicate this song to my Father who is fighting an aggressive form of Cancer and is very close to the End.... I Love You Dad

“Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise. Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise” Possibly the most beautiful, romantic lyrics I’ve ever heard.
So romantic
Sounds more like a toxic relationship rather then it being romantic, I do agree that's it's beautiful being that I found myself stuck in a similar situation, making empty promises in the hopes of repairing something that was beyond destruction.
@@delta2ish Sorry to hear that. I see your point.

am I really listening to a 20 year old radiohead song for the first time? how fucking cool is that as a fan?
Mike Pulito Especially if you were 5 when this song was written. Here I sit as an adult, 20 years later, weeping for joy. Such a beautiful treat. ❤❤❤
It's cool when it was made 4 years before you were born
I get that feeling again, yes. A few months ago, when Pink Floyd released The Early Years, I got a similar treat as well.
yes, I love them more than anything outside of Nirvana and Foo Fighters as far as modern music goes. Creep was so grunge and epitomized the loser/slacker early 90s young man. Then listening to the choral arrangement of it again in 2008 for Social Network. I realized the ending words and got a new perspective of the song with "she's running out again" implying it's not the 1st time he's stalked this girl which truly makes him a Creep!
its cooler if this was released on your birthday :3
Radiohead help me in those dark times i had about a year ago , completly depressed , literally never leaving my house , i had no job , couldnt even go to university because i had no money, all my old friends didnt care about me at all, i felt lonely af , i truly felt like killing myself , now a year later i started working out , changed my body , changed my mind , i finally went to university , made some new friends, and sometimes i come here to listen to this song but with a whole different feeling , a year ago it was sadness , i used to cry a lot , now i just smile while listening to It , i guess things get better :)
best thing is, things will get even better, I promise
Radiohead’s music is not so joyful, how could you take a positive energy from it in such a difficult moment? For sure it goes inside your deeper emotional levels.
I am very happy for you stranger !
Awesome! Keep at it 👊🏻
Yes and the best is yet to come 😊
This band easily saved my life in my darkest hour. Sometimes I'm shocked I made it this far.
I hope you are doing good now...!
Hope you’re better than you were. Sending love.

Good for you. The dead only know one thing: it is better to be alive.

My ex-flatmate introduced me to this band and this music video some years ago. At that time, I have noticed that it was filmed in Warsaw (Poland) the city where we were living. I am still living in the same flat and only now I have noticed that this place 2:21-2:27 is about 150 meters from our house. Unfortunately, this place is currently destroyed due to the new constructions. This place is only left in my memory and this video. Every time I watch this music video, it reminds me of how I walked through this place to catch a bus to my university... P.S. my dear ex-flatmate, thank you for introducing me to some good music:)

It's not a depressing song, it's a beautiful song.
What I mean is it's a melancholic song - painful and sad but yet so beautiful.
I think it's depressing but maybe he was depressed when he wrote it.
It is something subjective shivani 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Beautiful and depressing song
@@suedadoner8256 I won't say that awareness would act like comfort zone. It will only help you deal with the situation but deep down you will always remember.
This song is empowering. The slow marching rhythm, as if it was marching toward something, happily and willingly. It's a statement. It simply means I will love you unconditionally. No matter what. I promise.
Imagine an album being SO good that this song didn't make the cut!!!
Edit: I'm amazed how many people are taking this comment literally and missing my point entirely
It blew my mind too. You have such an incredible song, but your disc it’s so good that it didn’t make the cut.
Crazy
It doesn't fit the album. And it's too good for a B-side. So they keep it? That's how imagined it lol
And then they sit on it for 20 years 😳🤷♂️...
+Jaka Prakasa Idk. A Reminder, Meeting in the Aisle, Palo Alto, Polyethylene, and How I Made my Millions are all really good and still ended up as b-sides.
But you are right. It didn’t really fit the album. Neither did Lift (though, I think Lift could’ve been a good closing track after the Tourist). It was probably also a matter of the album length. Sometimes bands have a bunch of extras that just don’t make official releases.
But, I think the band left them out because Lift and I Promise were pretty blatantly too britpop-y for the band and they didn’t want those songs to overshadow the rest of their main singles, or the album.
It's 2017, and radiohead is just as relevant as they were in the 90s.
And someone told me on twitter that Radiohead has not had any impact on music and has not influenced anyone lol
We need them more now than we ever did before along with Rage Against The Machine & Manic Street Preachers
and will keep
Alex, agree 100%. I think they'll always be relevant. Music is timeless.
To be fair, this was recorded in the 90s but just released this year. BUT YES! I AGREE!!

Damn it's good to hear Thom's young voice again. We're blessed to have new old Radiohead!
No I'm no expert but this is how I think it works in my head. There'll be a stack of tapes and recordings from the OK Computer days. These recordings aren't like a CD or vinyl they are extremely high quality. Radiohead are revisiting these tapes (and with more modern "transferring" techniques) they'll transfer the audio to CD and vinyl to sell.
I think this is his actual voice, but the sound of this song remind me a lot the ok computer era.. so good

beautiful words. Depicts the feeling of the video pretty well, the android is trying to capture everyone´s emotions, to be in the present moment with everything around (it?) him. Even if he's a non-organic thing, even then, he is trying to be there, in the life he is actually living, in contrast with many of us which are able to be in the moment but simply choose not to, cause its not as easy as the quote says. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Perfect bus song, I agree. In fact I first heard it when on the bus and didn't even realise the concurrence while watching the vid :/ Weeks later I learnt it was shot in Poland, which I had also failed to realise despite its fairly obvious references and me being raised in Poland. I'm quite slow on the uptake, but nevertheless feel like this song was meant to be. I love Radiohead and
right now I love this song especially.

I'm inside a bus right now and this song is on loop.
The instrumental sections of this song are among the most poignant pieces of music I’ve ever heard. The bass line under the soaring strings are just sublime... and at the end, Thom’s voice stretches into the strings and trails off into the sky. The rest of the song is pretty f***ing great, too.
The riff is the same as notes lazy eye, two all time BANGERS
It's wonderfully simple and folksy. It may sound strange but it reminds me of Bring the Boys Back Home by Pink Floyd (the snare helps hehe)
Even though he misses a great part of himself, his eyes get wet facing the pain of another.

thats the core of the song. He is far too damaged and incomplete. Still he can feel empathy for others even when he is the most broken of them all. Feels love even when he doesnt feel lke human anymore. Radiohead is like watching a full lenght movie without watching it. Thats where their brilliance comes from.

This is how beautiful Radiohead was, is and will be forever.
Radiohead is often ridiculed for making depressing(melancholic) songs, but this is how songs should be: of pure emotions -emotions which are not fake, corrupted or molded by societal frivolous norms.
feu Being an asshole does not preclude a person from being emotional
would you mind to elaborate why he's an arse?
Sometimes people don't show their to true feelings through their behaviours. Yet their feelings inside themselves are wrecked.......

Without a doubt! Just sent this to a friend and said closet to Orbison I have heard. Had to have been an influence.

This song: No

It can make you happy! It can be both sides! There’s bitter sweet you know?
I can't think of a single happy Radiohead song. This one musically sounds happy. Then you read the lyrics. Nope.
In order to appreciate the band's genius and still shield your emotional health from the onslaught of hopelessness, you have to willfully misread the words. Which I don't mind doing. Misprision is a creative act in itself.
"That's an adorable case of contagious depression you've got there, Thom. Thanks for sharing, little buddy. [Pats head] But I'm just going to pretend like you're happy and normal so that your mental disease doesn't infect me, cool?"
Bittersweet is good for the soul, its standing your ground and acknowledging the pain rather than ignoring it or glazing over it .janis Joplin and salif keita are my usual go to if I feel the hurt and need to squeeze out the bile, wring out the hurt chile lol nothing wrong with a bit of the blues now and then it only makes the sun shine brighter when it gets around to showing up.
You're projecting your thoughts on the song. Pent up emotions, unrequited feelings. Leave them and listen to it in stillness.
How is it that Radiohead know how to butcher a soul to pieces and sew it back together in three to four minutes?

Joanne Zpl look blow out is a great song, and you is pretty good too.
WestonBVB The Bends got me into Radiohead too, many years ago now. Looking back - wow, what a blessing that's been :)
Yeah all their albums are #1 to me. Even Pablo Honey. "Blow Out" was waaay ahead of its time.
Street spirit
OK Computer = best album. Just = best song (sometimes, depending on my mood...)
"but I have no more parts to sell" said the android.
The bus driver took pity and carried the android's head to the back.
"Will you let me know when we get there ? " asked the android.
"I promise" said the bus driver.
holy shit, holy fuck, is that an undertale reference?
Thoms falsetto is effortless and sublime
I'm glad this wasn't on OK Computer but I'm glad they released it.
TheAnthraxBiology OK Computer is perfect even Fitter Happier in context works epically. But I am so hyped for the B-sides. LIFT finally! Taste the happy! 😂
20 years later, this song is a breath of fresh air.
Like a time capsule, waiting to be discovered.
Nicely said!
I guess it's not for you, then!
Saber91 Radiohead is not for you, I promise.
Yash Kshirsagar exactly my feels! like a pleasant flashback to OK album
I know, I feel like i'm listening to OK computer in the car with my mum. I love this era of Radiohead so much it hurts.
The girl on the bustop reminds me of a person just very sad, very lonely, just someone that just needs a Hug. 😢
I'm listening to this for the first time. It made me think of my mam who is no longer with us. She passed 2 years this June, from vascular dementia, I miss her dearly and will always love you Mam. I promise till we meet again. 🙏🦋💐😇🕊️❤️ xxx
I played this song in my head when i was sitting alone in a crowded bus. It was pouring outside and i was gazing at the junction through the window and man, the glistening roads were reflecting the streetlights and the headlights of the cars and i saw a child watching the puddle form ripples. It was all so goddam beautiful and i felt so glad i didnt kill myself the previous day.
sending you good mental vibes, i hope you're well
Beautiful.
Indian melodrama
Hope you are doing better and stay alive ..stay amazing
what a comment. keep your head up mate. its worth living. we all will die anyway soon
Thom´s voice changes everything.
A friend of mine once told me that when a person smokes up quite frequently, it starts making things fade, especially emotions. Nothing’s sharp enough anymore. You start getting numb towards everything. And yet, grow mellow. Really truly mellow. It takes out the pleasure from surroundings, and you’re left back with a feeling of loneliness, otherness.
This video is an apt display of rundown, disconnected, unexpressed emotions.
So grateful i chanced upon this song yesterday by sheer luck. Absolutely beautiful in it's simplicity. Thom's voice reaches my soul like no other artist. Proud to be an Oxfordian
Blown away this was unreleased for so long...absolutely beautiful track

Beautiful song. I can see why it wasn't on OK Computer though. Different vibe. Makes me think more of The Bends (High and Dry- Fake Plastic Trees) style.
I always thought Electioneering sounded more like Bends than Ok, I guess they still didn't want to make the whole transition from their older stuff

A Bside 20yr old song from Radiohead is a masterpiece from any other band. Thom Yorkes voice is magical.
I get it now - it's a runaway robot experiencing humanity. Humanity in it's simplest, basic, but amazing form.
This Fucking band...
OK
^^
I had a different imagination of what moon shaped poo would be...
CeeGix wtf r u kid?
Haidren T. Kyde i had a moon shaped poo earlier today
Just finished an exam and came back home to this. Today is surprisingly a good day.
DBeiki A Glorious day! I feel my luck could change.
Andre Jansen They're on a roll. It's true what they say, true love waits.
DBeiki Does that mean you're confident you passed your exam?
Deadpool Sensei I'd rather not say I'm sure, but I think it went rather well thanks
This makes much more sense to be released at this point of Radiohead history... It makes it powerfully nostalgic, where OK Computer was rather about anxiety
why am i crying
Cause it’s a beautiful song
"One of three previously unreleased tracks"

*LYRICS*
I won't run away no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise
I don't wish that I'm strict, I promise
The tantrums and the chilling chats, I promise
Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise
Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise
I won't fool around no more, I promise
Even when I get bored, I promise
Even when you lock me out, I promise
I say my prayers every night, I promise
I won't fool around no more, I promise
I won’t run away no more, I promise.
U promise.. And I wish....
Thanks to be alive every day. I promise
Strict = spread
Don't hear anywhere where it's saying "fool around". Somebody time link it.
Currently my favorite Radiohead song even though it changes weekly
If there’s music in heaven, this song would be the credits of the soundtrack.
And here I am, listening to Radiohead again.
what does this meannnn. I love it
It's 2017 and Radiohead are still the most relevant band in the world.
Was just thinking this. It's crazy!
