Some of yall need to understand that there are people even darker than Nyma who still are no where near included when it comes to cosmetics. Just because you think it looks good on her doesn't mean she shares the same view. Fenty is a great brand but every brand has room for expansion.

I wish y’all would stop trying to silence this beautiful dark skinned woman. She doesn’t have to be loyal to Fenty just because it’s black owned. And Being black owned doesn’t mean that it perfectly caters to her skin tone. A sub par product is a sub par product and Fenty can use this feedback to improve on its products for darker shades in particular.

Exactly! The deeper shades tend to be red or orange. Like I don’t really have a shade and the one that is close to my skintone (440) really isn’t a match. Her mixing the shades was a perfect match for her skin tone. The foundation and concealers look hella red and the cameras tend to make your makeup look better
Some people on here are bizarre. Nyma was nothing but kind during this video. Clearly the colors were off for what her skintone is. Fenty being prided on their range can like many brands still do better. If your skin is white like the background of this screen or dark you deserve to be represented. Just because a product is hyped doesn't mean you have to like it.
cazfarri yessss as a SUPER pale person, I was actually super happy with fenty. All the palest ivory colors are typically very yellow/orange for me.

I loooove watching Nyma review and talk about foundations because it's so interesting to hear a person on the complete other side of the spectrum also having trouble finding a good match. I personally still haven't found a good match, because we don't have Sephora or Ulta here in my country and I really don't want to order something expensive online if I don't even know if it'll match me; so I'm stuck with my lightest drugstore foundation which makes me look like I got a bad spray tan on only my face lol!!

From what I can see 498 looked like a match but she wanted to go “lighter” and mix shades rather than use 498 which looks like her perfect match

is it just me or did the the powder look bomb under her eye lmaoo..like it literally gave it a bright glow, & blended in seamlessly w/ the foundation/concealer. especially after the setting spray.

I feel like nyma’s review was perfectly fine, the camera also picks up colors and blurs imperfections more then we can see like if it were in person. Plus it’s her skin, I think she’s being fair because she has to look at herself in the mirror every day and like what she sees. It’s not okay to pass judgement on her foundation shade, She knows what she wants in a color of foundation and concealer. A honest review is better then fake beauty gurus gassing products up so we buy them! 🤦🏻♀️🙌🏼

Those who watch her know that she likes dewy type even if we might want to see her differently.
She needs to apply makeup like what she used to or it beats the purpose of HER reviewing it.
She complimented the products a lot. She dislikes something and that is normal. And her comments are real. The colours didnt match her. She have to mix. Thats a bummer for not being able to match.

I don’t know if it was just because it was on camera, but I loved the color of the under eye. I feel like it gave a great lift to the face.

Why they make dark shades to look red-orange??? Nobody is red-orange...They should use brown and shift from yellows, beiges to ash tones.
I M A QYN a lot of people with darker skin (not everyone!!) have a bit more red undertone
Brown colors overall is red mixed with green so that why the red- orange undertones. They can tweak it to try their best and get golden undertones and cool undertones. It’s hard to make a dark shade without some form of red color in there unfortunately
the foundation oxidizes(idk if thats the correct word but i mean when it is dried it looked different) but the reason why it's red-orange is because of undertones, it just looks that way when out of the bottle but when blended and dried it matches her skin tone

I totally agree the powder it's too bright but the mixing of the foundation actually looked good, a shame you had to mix. And honestly I wished ppl respected your taste for complexion products, just because they love a matte look you're not obligated to like too, everytime you put a matte complexion product it's a rain of comments about how they don't understand why you didn't like it and that you always look wet and that the matte was perfect. Like you just said you have dry skin and you like looking more dewy.

Amen sister! If you have ever seen her use the usual Joe Blasco's setting powder , you will notice the difference ( I notice cause I am about as dark as her. )
When she wears Joe Blasco's, it disappears and melts into her skin. The Fenty powder was on the yellow undertone side and yet her undertone is pinky-red. It stood out and was conspicuous.
Fenty really needs to customize her shade, send it to her and put it in stores.
If you don’t like the brighter look that’s fine. But the actual finish/quality looks to be gorgeous.

To me it honestly looks like ur glowing☺️..the powder does brighten more than ur normal routine..but it’s more of a glamorous glow, not cakey.

I've heard from other reviews that you need to use a light hand with the powder cause if you bake with it it'll just cake up. I think that's what happened to her, I hope she tries it lighter handed the shade looked so flattering!

The mix of 490 and 498 looked soooooo good!! She should’ve tried 498 to contour though just to see if it could work for her. 🤷🏾♀️
The mix was perfect 👌. The 498 wouldn't have worked as a contour though since it matches her face skin exactly. She usually mixes her foundations to match her chest, but still, she needed something darker to make a decent contour. She usually just uses a very dark eyeshadow.

A lot of comments are saying the powder looked great, but other reviews that haven’t been sponsored by Fenty also say the powder isn’t that good. I think maybe the lighting makes it look better than it actually is. Not liking something does not necessarily equal shade, and I have never watched any of Nyma’s videos before but I did not get a shady vibe from the review.
Edit: lighting could have also impacted foundation matching. She would know what her true match is.

The powder, IMO, is way too red for her undertones. It doesn't look good; and is 'very obvious', instead of natural/flawless
She needs some thing that is more neutral in undertone.

yeah! hopefully Rihanna see's this and makes some adjustments to her darkest shades :) I know the 'Fenty by Rihanna' channel watches these reviews (because they have left comments on most of the other reviews) so hopefully they will see her's too

I have come to the conclusion that Fenty could launch 40 even deeper shades and there will still be someone who will not find their perfect match. It just is what it is. At least there are foundations for them to work with successfully.
@@ToyaRR realistically there's over 7 billion people on earth that out of 50 shades not everyone is going to find a perfect match, it's more about finding one that's close enough that there's not a noticeable difference though. This definitely could go deeper though, Nyma's not the darkest human in the world.

That coffee setting powder looks amazing on you. It really did blur everything.
If you follow melanin goddess on Instagram you’ll know the shade 498 was created based on her skin tone and she is about the same complexion. So I don’t think it’s that Fenty doesnt have a shade that matches her she just has a preference on what flatters her undertones cuz that last shade she swatched on her chest melted right in

I’m surprised that they lack contour and setting powder especially since they have Duckie as one of their main models.
StylebyCyan you are so right about that. I wonder if that’s how they got the darkest shade they created.
They reverse contour on the darker ladies. It gives the same effect of a sculpted face. In my opinion the really dark contour can tend to look muddy. That is just my opinion. I am a 420 in Fenty and I prefer to reverse contour than using a darker shade to actually contour.

phillipsoif3 it’s basically if your skin is deep enough you use your own skin tone to create a contour so you’ll use a slightly lighter color on the apples of your cheek and near your jawline so your face will contour itself

The deeper the skin tone the more complex the mixing of colour are. It's that same thing for the really pale people the slightest error in any measurements and it's a miss

It was too dark compared to her neck. I’m the opposite where my face is paler than my neck and chest but she has a darker face than chest. Just let her be. I think it’s better to color match that way or else you don’t look cohesive and blended well.

So, disappointing that you even have to mix to get your shade, shows that even 50 shades to 60 shades still don’t cover every one. But Fenty beauty seems to be on a good track in creating shades for everyone . Also I wish fenty had there own stores so I could be properly color matched . Cause Sephora workers are usually people that don’t look like me . Had one girl tell me I was neutral undertone, had me walking around looking soo ashy 😫

It took me one time to ask them to "color match" me it was a hard pass. how I found my perfect color is I swatched afew on my my chest walked around for a bit because the colors oxidized. Then bam 390 was my perfect match. Hopes this helps you.
Honestly I never have mixing shades a second thought, I’m a medium skin tone so there’s a lot of variety but friends and family tend to gift me foundations that are too dark and when I go get matched the lighting gives me foundations that are too light. Plus my skin tone varies so much... I can walk to work two days in a row and be two shades darker, and stay at home all week and be a shade lighter. I just always assumed that since people are all so different and all have such unique skin, it’s kind of amazing that anyone finds their one perfect foundations at all. Granted they should at least give you something to work with
Mood, I'm lucky and my skin tone is very easy to match, somehow they managed to get it wrong. My skin is very yellow and they gave me one of the pink undertone ones😂😭
With the direction Fenty is going I wouldnt be surprised it they did open a store if so I sure hope I'm near it.

Other reviews and even the ladies at Sephora said you aren't supposed to use a lot of setting powder. You can go from 0 to 1000 real quick. Went to get my match at the store. She specifically instructed me to be very light handed with the powder. Use it very sparingly.

Ive been watching so many Morphe foundation reviews, so I thought you were swatching Morphe foundations.. you started swatching them I was thinking wow Maybe the undertones are wanky.. but than I realized it was Fenty! It's crazy how orange the foundations looked as swatches but blended out it looks amazing on you! It's more of an aesthetic thing, I'm sure she just wants more natural, less let's shine brighter than the gods and look like chiseled statues look and that's what unsettled her. Me too! I didn't even know she had added it on her face with the swatches. I really wanted to see that alone. However, I think she wanted a little brighter glow and to match her body/arms... her face is slightly deeper than the rest.

for everyone confused by her opinion on the powder being drying look at jefree star's review since he thought the same thing about the powder...also cameras make makeup look better so I don't think that she is being overly critical I'm glad she actually shares her opinion truthfully
yanelux yes fenty is mainly based for oily skin, I’m sure he doesn’t have oily skin so yes it did probably make his under eyes more dry. I’m in a beauty group chat and most of them said Fenty is too drying for them and clings to their dry patches simply because it’s a matte foundation and their skin isn’t oily

I've been a happy subscriber of Nyma's for a while now. I'm glad to see someone with my complexion on CZcams doing the makeup I used to think I couldn't do and slaying at it. You def got my through my first few yrs in Uni. Now I'm a senior and much more the wiser in makeup.

To be honest, the majority of these comments come off as condescending. It’s great that YOU thought the powder looked great, but you weren’t the person who tried it on and took the time to make a video and review it... I *think* she might know a bit more than you do about how it looks on her own skin. She said plenty of positive things throughout the video, but she was honest and didn’t shy away from giving her opinion - which is what we should want, right? I feel like people are in love with Rihanna and don’t understand that stanning a celebrity doesn’t mean you have to love every single thing they ever release. As a white person, I can literally ONLY IMAGINE how frustrating it must be trying to shop for makeup if you have the same complexion as Nyma, so I don’t see anything wrong with her asserting herself as a consumer. She is amassing a significant following and I’m guessing they value her feedback even if some of it is negative. With the beauty industry expanding so rapidly, there are several brands, Fenty Beauty included, that are trying to cater to women who have darker, unique skin tones, so it’s important for these companies to hear exactly how their products hold up when used by the women within their target market. Alright, that’s all I have to say about that.

@Matthew Burns I couldn't agree with you more. I was confused by the amount of "it looks flawless" especially seeing that it didn't. It looked cakey and as she said was a bit too bright. The effect of that powder gave her a cat like appearance. I absolutely don't like it on her but I have seen it look good on most people. That's where her frustration may come from why is there always a struggle for deeper complexions. Sigh, fans need to stop 'stanning'.

I completely agree! As someone who is ridiculously pale and lives in a country full of tan people, it's so hard to find makeup, and it's even worse when your skin tone is like hers. At least I can find contour more easily, even if it is too dark most of the time!
The mix looks lovely but the darkest shade 498 actually looked ok when it had dried on your chest, so it might be ok on the face once you take into account setting powders and highlight etc etc
