Use to be used in a lot of Pub refurbs - ceilings ,wall panels etc
2 coats of cream eggshell then when dry a wood colour glaze was applied then wiped
    quite effective in skilled hands

So if I want a frieze with gold highlights and a cream background, I should paint the cream on first? (Oil based) What is the best gold paint to use. I don't want an antique look, but a shiny gold appearance (like in gold foil). I've seen this in the walls/trim at Buckingham Palace.

What kind of roller should I look for to apply the lightly-rolled on highlights on top of the all-over paint? Thanks for a great video - this will be very helpful to accomplish my weekend project of refreshing our old lincrusta border!

+Amy McKee I'd Say a short / gloss pile roller of a foam roller

+Amy McKee... I'd use a high density foam roller. Buy several because you wouldn't want the foam to absorb too much paint. Put the paint into a smooth bottomed container a little bigger than the width of the roller. Tilt the paint pan to just cover the bottom so that when you roll over it, you only pick up a thin layer of paint. Problems will arise if you get too much paint on the roller. Better to put too little paint on the roller and do two layers than get too much paint in the recesses. Patience will be needed! They make it look easy in the video, but keep in mind that they are showing you the technique on a SMALL horizontal surface (not your wall) and this painter has done this a lot. Good luck :-)

Can you tell me what colours were used on the prince of wales hotel in Niagara on the Lake in the lobby. It seems like a gold or bronze or both. I want to recreate this absolutely gorgeous look in my home. What paint manufacturer works best with your wall paper? Thanks!
