The NEW Palaeophis slithers its way into Beasts of Bermuda!!! (Public Testing)

Palaeophis... BEAUTFUL!!! Model 10/10, skins 10/10, sounds 10/10, movement... still a little janky but for sure revolutionary for this genre of games. The tree climbing is so satisfying, which just makes this snake come more alive. This is going on the list of my favorite playables for this game, and coming with this new update will be more character slots so that's cool! I am excited for the snake to come out but for the mean time me and some friends checked it out on the public test branch. I hope you enjoy our snakery.

Word is, this was a nightmare to get going. It’s been in the background for years. At points it was shelved so other parts of the game could be worked on. AFAIK can’t just drop a snake model into pot and get it to move well.

That might be overestimating the PoT devs by quite a bit. Snakes aren’t easy to implement as a playable, and it certainly can’t be done in less than a month.
Funnily enough: an AI snake is much easier to implement, thus why The Isle devs took the safer route.
Kudos to the BoB devs for seeing the potential and working on the Paleo over the years. They now have the genre cornered in that regard.

i like that you can extent on the ground, periscoping is something pythons and other snakes do alot to get a higher vantage point, adders have this noble fighting where they see who can go the highest, i say we do this to avoid unnecessary fights and disputes

Too much work for the dev team, allegedly speaking. People complain about BoB being a bad game all the time - but at the end of the day, their devs are always the ones who are truly willing to innovate in the dino survival genre, and the game is still the most feature-complete dino sim on the market, as far as mechanics and gameplay loops go.
However, with the release of BoB's paleophis, I won't be surprised if we see The Isle's dev team reconsider it at some point. But yeah this thing's never coming to PoT that's for certain lol

It is! I was fortunate to play it during the testing, and it’s easily the most enjoyable playable at this time.
Just don’t expect to take down larger playables with ease. It’s not going to kill the apexes easily, BUT, you can escape them quite well with a well placed venom spit.
Granted, I’m not saying it’s impossible, but you will struggle.
