It must be so awesome being on this jobsite and having everything going up so fast! Air sealing is such an after thought on so many jobsites its great to see a company doing it differently!

I was thinking that the concrete contractors you work with must be amazing for your prefab work to all line up. It make so much more sense to measure the foundation work and adjust the model. Brilliant!!

They are now requiring a blower door test for new construction, at least where I live. We used Zip-R sheathing and Zip Tape plus closed cell foam in wall cavities and passed with a rating 75% better than the passing threshold. Would have done even better if I had remembered to plug the bath and range hood fan vents. This was a surprise to the tester, as he said many tests he's done had failed with other new homes in the area. Running around trying to figure out where the leaks are must be a bitch without spending a few grand to have another contractor out to use an aerosol mist to find these hidden cracks.

Probably the most efficient construction method that I have seen. I'm considering using Bensonwood Homes for a lot in Sapphire, NC. I had been exploring a 3D printed home but I think the Bensonwood construction process is much more advanced at this point. The lot is heavily wooded and I want to retain as many trees as possible. I also want to avoid the traditional concrete foundation due to radon and termite risk as well as rainwater incursion.

how long does it take to fab in the shop tho? That should also be factored in the building process. not just the onsite building.

An energy efficient home or business is more comfortable and saves money in the long run.
Solar energy on your roof combined with battery storage can make people more independent from the grid and natural gas supplies. Add solar and supplemental electric heating or a heat pump for home or business heating..
All big box stores and manufacturing sites can support solar energy on their roofs or parking lots.
Added insulation, double or triple glaze windows, energy efficient doors, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances, LED lighting, smart thermostats, solar panels combined with battery storage and a electric vehicle charger in the garage or car park. People are too focused on the short term costs and miss out on long term savings and comfort. Blower door testing and air sealing are under appreciated tools.Even if you have money to burn you should not waste it. Climate Change will impact everyone. Leave a better future for your children and grandchildren. Join in and speak up for the future of the plane

I agree. I want to construct a 1600 sf "smart" home with a low impact building method and from what I have seen so far, it appears that Bensonwood is the best choice.
