As I am looking for a travel tripod, I liked your comments on the problems of traveling. The size in a backpack, overhead luggage, etc. I was leaning toward the lever locks. But you convinced me of the advantages of twist locks. Good technical review, but your ‘real-world experience was a precious touch. Thanks.
Appreciate that! Even just recently I was using my larger manfrotto tripod with lever locks and still hate how they love to snag onto everything. I am team twist locks 100% now!
Having had twist locks, I’ll definitely go for lever locks now.

those reason were same for me going for travel with my old rollei tripod similar to the manfrotto befree in size, endedup I bought the peak design one and that is a really compact and great tripod

Thanks, super helpful. I feel like I'm trying sooo many tripods to avoid buying one huge and heavy tripod. Definitely will rent the big one for jobs but for everyday I think I'll try this version. Since the Peak design one is like $800 Canadian, yikes...lol

Peak Design one was cool. Best parts about it is that it’s lighter, more compact (doesn’t need to be folded up like the manfrotto and it’s still just as small) , and it’s got a hook on the center column I believe. But I didn’t like the ball head on it and it doesn’t get quite as tall as the manfrotto, in case I ever do need the height.
Out of the ones I’ve looked at, it’s definitely my second favorite. I think the main reason I ended up with this one is price lol
Will such Befree be ok for bigger lenses ? For example Canon R5 and Canon RF 100-500 ? Theoreticaly weight should be ok... but as I know theory is only theory...

Two question is there any reason you went with the advance vs the GT. And 2nd on the advance can the center column be reversed.
The legs are gear but their ballhead is of lower quality, usually start sagging ever so slightly after a few minutes. The befree 400AH fluid head and 3way gear head are both better even for still photography. 3way head slows you down a lot but offers great independentability. Fluid head is in between the two in terms of speed and flexibility.
I’m gonna check them out! Haven’t noticed any sagging yet but I’m sure over time it could happen since it feels like a smaller unit compared to some other ballheads, thanks!
Will this be compatible with Peak designs capture clip?
Yes, but you need to buy the RC2 clip mount that is compatible with manfrotto tripods. On the peak design website, it should be listed as the "Dual Plate" for capture clip!
