Making over this guest room was such a fun project! My mom and I used Items we've purchased from Goodwill, estate sales, various thrift stores and flea markets to create a relaxed yet elegant cottage style bedroom.

Selena, it is so wonderful to see your relationship with your Mom. And, that you cherish that time together. Keep doing it as long as you both can. My Mom and I would shop together, as often as we could. But now, she can't get around, and has days where she is so confused. I try to remember and make sure I can spend time with my daughters, as well. Thank you for your peaceful videos!

I loved this. It reminds me so much of the makeover for the room I stayed in at my grandmother's. I was a lot younger, barely a teenager (half a lifetime ago!) but that room was so special. It was all yellow with roses and had my gran's old typewriter on the desk. Today, I'm a writer obsessed with vintage and gardening - homes can have SUCH a big influence on people!

i think the bedroom turned out fantastic! love every element of it! I would have never thought of putting wallpaper in a picture frame! When my youngest was a baby, I would take washcloths that had a print and put them in a embroidery hoop that I hung on the wall for decor! super simple and it was for a baby's room, so not really wanting anything to fancy! thanks for sharing! xoxo

You don’t begin to know the luck you have in having your mother with you at this point in your life. I miss my mom every day being able to run to the little shops or grab a piece of pie…One of my favorite memories was after my Father had passed away, & She came to stay with me for about two weeks. Every day we went to another town and I took her to the best gift shops and the best restaurants not necessarily fancy but quaint with homestyle foods that I knew she would like. I kept waiting for her to show in someway that she loved an item so that I could purchase it for her so she could have it in her home. After 13 days I was so frustrated oh and finally, I said to her, “ mom, I am wanting to buy you souvenirs to take home with you and I’ve been with you know almost 2 weeks and we have shopped together and look at hundreds of things, and I haven’t seen you touch one single item.! “
She chuckled and then she said some thing I’ve never forgotten… (I should interject hear that my Mother and Father & were farms, VERY AFFECTIONATE w/ EACH OTHER DAILY, & were married 51 years before Daddy passed away from an unexpected heart attack !! )
She said to me, “Vickie, you have given me the most wonderful gift anyone has ever given me.!! You have allowed me to take all the Time in the world to just look to my hearts content and never rush. Something I never got to do raising your children. Your father and I only went to town to get groceries and what was needed and then rushed back home to you children and responsibilities of the Farm. When you were had time like this that you’ve given me the last two weeks & I shall treasure it forever” ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️And she surprised me again & said boldly, “Well, if you insist on buying me something, there’s a number of things I would be delighted to take home!”, and with that she turned and walked over, and began pointing out a number of things she would love to have for her home! Of course I bought every one of them and it was delightful to see them displayed in their proper place whenever I visited. It was also wonderful to hear her talk about that visit with me to my sisters because honestly mom and I didn’t get on so much when I was growing up and it was nice to know I finally did something wonderful for her.
The room turned out so lovely. I love the bed and wish it was mine! I love the lamp You redid with lace & Frienge & the clever framed wallpaper! The night stand turned out LOVELY after your DIY project & I especially loved it that you put your mom‘s new pillow down at the bottom of it. I think people tend to think pillows belong on the sofa or on the bed but I love to put pillows in unusual places where they draw the most attention to your eyes. I safely loaded that you put the turquoise Afghan at the bottom of the bed! It truly did fit nicely there as an accent color w/ the Pillows your Mom sewed for the room!!!😃❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Thank you tore everything you showed us including the beautiful use of antique doilies which I collect myself and I love your video and I love both of you and the fun and laughter you have together. Your videos are the best. Keep shopping together, laughing together and enjoying a cup of tea. Also, I collect tea cups as well… My favorite is the one that belong to my wonderful grandmother~ it came from England.… I worry when I’m gone no one will know the stories about my things

I was married in a 1912 dress. Good thing I was about 112 lbs then. I was about all things antique for abt the next 10-15 years. Though my style has changed and become more eclectic, I wouldn’t change it. I still hope to fit back into it some day.

I never would have thought to pair the chenille bedspread and sham with the bark cloth pillows. It's a lovely combo, though.
The tassels are the cherry on top for the lampshade. It is pretty on is own and the tassels kick it up a notch.
Framing wallpaper is great idea. I have framed gift wrap before. I like doing that. Making wall art on a budget.

I'm so glad that the bed isn't " against the wall " on one side, it creates an unbalanced room ( Feng Shui, lol) .
I love the way it looks, and since I seldom buy " new " ( furniture, etc ) it speaks to what we can do ,to make our homes lovely. I think the tassels on the lamp really " finish " the look. :)
Loved the Wallpaper Art, I use a Mat, to frame things like that out. I even use beautiful Calendar Photos.
