Keep your heavy items in the top of the pack. Make sure that you have full access to the two straps that keep the shoulder straps attached to the pack.
When going up a hill pull the shoulder straps attached tight to your body. Keeping the pack ,and the weight close to your back.
When walking on a flat surface, adjust the straps that the weight of the pack is riding on hip.
This is referred to as " Driving Your.Pack"
Honestly I love how cheap and easy to find ucp gear is, the full spectrum of issued gear is out here but my gosh do I hate the pattern.
Well, hell. I was hoping to use mine as a game pack. This means alotta weight centered low. Perhaps leaving the center panel zipped closed will help keep it higher.

There Is not a pocket made for it but there is plenty of space for it. The ACU hydration pack easily attaches to the pack also and give you the ability to carry it stand alone.
