Thanks for the great vid! I'm an old man tryna get into the beatbox groove a bit later than most do as I'm turning 31 on 27th of August hahaha! Always been able to do the basics but really getting into with the way it has evolved over the decades. This video might be quite old at this point but I'm glad I found it cuz I've learned some new things today!

great tutorial but i also seen something floating around you like abit of cigarette smoke at 13.51 then like smoke came out of your mouth at 13.56. Weird. watched it over again and again. Puffed on a ciggy or vape or there's a Spirit around you..
I think it must be either a spirit or a cat hair as my cat does enter the room towards the end of the vid. Definitely not smoke or vape, it's an unsolved mystery.... Thanks for you comment Paul :)

My best advice is to use a vocal sound like "do do do" and then try doing the lip bass mouth position and it should work :)

Can you do evil bass bro? And what would you say is the difference between the “Slizzer high bass” and slizzer’s normal bass? I mean I know it feels looser to go high and tighter to go low, but aren’t they both variations of vocalized chest bass? I just thought the high version was the falsetto with chest bass and the low version that wunknown uses is just the normal low “Louis Armstrong” tight voice with chest bass?

The names are off but in general, 10/10. I first learned shaky bass or whatever you call it in third grade. From that I learned how to change pitch and modulate it.

im having a lot of trouble learning the inward lip roll, Subsonic. Can you please help? What i wanna know is what the position of the tongue is in all this? If it would help, i can record a short video of how i am doing it and link it to you and you can help me?

Hey there man, yeah the inward lip roll is a difficult sound to get to grips with.
Make sure your jaw is swung to the opposite side your lip rolling on (if lip roll on left, jaw goes right)
Then make a inward kick type sound and you should start making a liproll sound inwards.
Do you think i should do a more in depth tutorials on inward and other liprolls?
Um, yes, i figured the jaw part out by watching yours, its just that when i do the "inward kick" i am not sure if my tongue should be resting down or should it be lifting off the floor of my mouth (I dontknow if that makes sense...)
Cause everytime i do it, (sorry for the language) it sounds like an elephant's fart. -_-
I've been beatboxing for 3 years now and this is one of those things that i never seem to quite grasp.... Any help would be appreciated :)
Also - I think your tutorial was crisp and to the point, i dont honestly see the necessity to do more indepth ones on this, but an indepth one on "technical advanced beatboxing" would be great :)
Izanagi Aadi don't feel discouraged bro. Once your lips get looser you'll get that crisp sound you want. Your lips on the side you lip roll on will get thinner making it easier to vibrate. And for your tongue placement it's hard to explain.
You're basically using your tongue to bring in air through the lips. That's honestly the best explanation I have. I hope it helps👍 Esh
@@AadiM the tongue literally isn't present in the sound, u dont use it. Also if u still havent learned it eatch Dharni's tutorials
So I tried teaching myself to beatbox, and apparently mastered the throat bass, frog bass, Tongue bass, and chest bass. On the other hand, I'm struggling to figure out how exactly that lip roll is done... I'll figure out soon enough... Hopefully
For most people it usually takes a couple of months to lean it, just keep practicing and you will get there.

What type if beatboxing should I try to learn with a deep voice? I cant learn lip roll yet, but I have a deep voice so when I have the throat bass, its a bit scratchy, still learning.
I recommend learning chest bass and then learn vocalised chest bass. As you have a lower voice your vocalised chest bass should sound awesome :) can you sing falsetto? as it helps with high bass (chest bass + falsetto voice)
Also a good to learn would be the humming style, throat kick style beatboxing, also check out vibration bass (tight throat bass + chest bass at same time)
Would you be interested in a tutorial on styles of beatboxing and an updated bass tutorial? Was also thinking of a genre tutorial with levels 1-10 of beats easiest to most difficult.

That's awesome Martin :) well done! the technical name for the sound is vocalised inwards glottal fry but I call it Frog bass for short as it sound a bit like a frog 🐸🐸🐸

It's called hollow lip roll (outwards) I didn't know the name back when I made this video. It's basically a very low and loose lip roll :)
What about vibration bass, snort bass/pig bass, fart bass/single lip oscillation, or starsky bass/uvular oscillation?
Or OD bass?
That beer bass is a hollow lip oscillation correct?

Inward lip roll takes a while to learn :) but it's such a cool sound it's worth it :)
when I try lip roll it does like an elephant noise help
difficult to explain but you have to keep your lips loose while pushing air from your mouth not lungs, hope that helps

I notice you show the harder sounds before the basics "you need to know outward base which ill teach you later for this" you should show the easy bass and move forward to harder bass types but good vid otherwise

Isnt frog bass inward bass
I think inward bass uses an inward chest bass to get the deep sound, I have heard some people doing a much a more bassy version of frog bass that sounds like inward bass.
Maybe you can combine both for an awesome deep and glottal inward bass :)

How can you do the throat basses without destroying your throat ? Haha I’ve been trying to learn throat bass for quite some time and my throat just hurt too much every time
My best advice is to not push too hard at first as it can vibrate your throat too much and hurt. If you practice the sound quite and get it perfect then turn up the volume as you practice over the next few days.

cool thanks for the reply subsonic the korg kaos sampler is annoying at times only having 16 recording time as aposed 2 the 32 timeline for a full set I mean, its just 2 quick having to change often and dose me head in any tips on that or do I need two samplers korg or should go with the ones that beatboxers use and record to that with my korg etc ? never sounds right unless u have more time, house music for eg or a 32 track old school record still learning this music making lark :) yes D-FLOW is a amazing little joke :)

It's just a loose click roll (maybe the slizzer roll? I'm not sure) combined with inward bass
