This cypher pt2 was a response to the group of rappers (certain rapper named B-Free) who embarrased these BTS. You might think BTS lyrics are so mean. But if you watched the event, you'd realize the lyrics for whom it is. Just sharing. Hehehe

I dont know why but when someone appreciates RM, i feel prouder and happier than if someone actually appreciates me. he is literally a genius and people are so used to seeing him doing well and him always producing, composing, writing that they take it for granted. i feel like he doesnt get so much hype because everyone already expects him to create good works. that is why i think we should give more credit to RM for what he has done for us and BTS.
the fact that he can flow and rhyme with english and do it better than some artists whose native language is english is really impressive as well. he is not a bilingual. he learned enlish later in his life. all by himself! and now he can write songs (meaninful ones) in english. if this is not impressive i dont know what is...

So! If I'm remembering correctly, cypher two was aimed at a group of underground rappers who dissed them on a radio show(saying things like they can't be rappers and idols and that stage makeup makes them girls). I may be wrong but there are videos explaining the "purpose" of all the cyphers!

It's a diss towards BFree, but that Hawaii line was a reference to a famous scene in a legendary Korean movie called "Friend" as well.

But the thing is that, a lot of people don't know that it's also a reference to the one of the most famous lines in Korean cinema history which makes it a more diss worthy punch line since it was done so nicely. The cypher was created because of the B-free incident. He was a rapper at that time and he told suga and RM that they were girly because they wear make up blah blah and they were not worthy in hiphop or in rapping... something like that... they defended themselves thru the cypher series.

I have never enjoyed rap-ever until BTS and Big Bang and of all the reaction vids to cypher2 I have seen this is the most fun. I didn't even mind the pausing. if you were an Army at the time this song was released, you'll remember how crazy everyone went cause the whole fandom was so upset over the Bfree shit it was the BEST feeling. I still go crazy every time I hear Yoongi say 'go back to hawaii' dfhdfkhaf. And you have to remember the fandom was small back then so things like this were actually damaging to the boys (if someone said those things to them today it probably wouldnt affect them anymore)

I cannot decide between RM and Suga. They are so different in the way they rap and soooo good at the same time. I think RM is more perfect in style and language use (the eminem flow 😉), plus considering the fact that he is not a native English speaker (Korean not even close to English), but comes up with the stuff like 07:43. Suga is more raw, passionate and deep and kind of poetic. While RM is a real rap monster Suga is living music through his whole body.

Same. I keep changing my mind who I prefer. I've been more emotionally impacted by Yoongi's lines but more impressed with the sophistication of Namjoon's lines. Hoseok, I just really enjoy listening to haha.
I prefer suga....because of his tongue technology
Speed - Suga (obviously, his tongue technology is crazy)
Tone - Both (Suga does this thing when he raps and laughs underneath his words which makes the rap 10x better, while RM switches from rapping fast to slow which grabs attention)
Freestyle - RM (He can easily freestyle)
Word-play - RM (RM is known as a brilliant lyricist, and in this video you can obviously tell by his verse. He not only rhymes, but is never off beat and the way he chooses words is incredible.)
Presentation - Both (By this, I mean rapping live. They both have killer charisma on stage)
Aggressiveness/Emotion - Suga (By aggressive I mean his rap voice makes you feel as if he's saying it to YOU. Being a rapper is not about cutesy stuff to him, it's about raw feelings. Suga is great at pouring his emotions into rap.)
Flow - J-Hope (honestly, J-Hope wasn't even an option between the two, but I just wrote him because his flow is crazy as heck. It's so unique and different, and he can do numerous rap styles)
Overall - Stan the rap line because, that's BTS' strong point.

I feel like that comes with a little understanding of the historical culture. Not everyone knows that to be an emperor was worshipped as a deity, so to be a King and a God was to be an Emperor. They got the overall idea though, I think.
When he says "you know when I ride on my G5 you sit frist class and satisfy and I keep giggling" A G5 is a private jet so what he's saying is that even if you buy your ticket first class and you're satisfied BTS is still above because they fly private not commercial, and that's why he keeps giggling, showing once again that he will never be on their level

Thank you for spending so long on Namjoon’s part! A lot of people just skip to Yoongi’s fast bit and don’t appreciate his wordplay and sheer genius. His verse has always been one of my favourite verses ever because of all the aforementioned reasons.

Honestly a lot of people don't appreciate their bars in Cypher 1 and 2. They went innnnnn, and I still don't know how RM managed to switch his flow from Korean to English so many times. Cypher 3 and 4 are GOOD but sometimes I feel like ARMYs hype them more than the others because of the beats..I'm sure you will still love them though! 3 is actually my favorite :) Can't wait for the next video!
