  • I think I've kept this a secret for long enough.
project looney is going to be a 4S capable traxxas backslash
The backslash conversion kit assembly instructions can be found here www.teamstrc.co...
The kit can be found here www.amainhobbi...
That's really all you need other than a body and wing of your choice, that will fit your truck, and 17mm adapters and bugy wheels. All other upgrades you can choose yourself or even keep your truck stock.

Jang was the first to build a 1:8 buggy conversion out of a slash and give it the name "backslash"- and he originally also used a hcg chassis as at that time the lcg chassis did not exist yet.

Knk best hardware and stainless is not softer than steel its way harder maybe you have low quality hardware but if you have ever drilled stainless then drilled steel you would see stainless is much harder

Most screws we use on rcs are hardened steel, which is stronger than stainless

You need power tools lol! But I like this build I did a slash-hoss

Power tools would be faster, but I prefer to be able to feel what I'm doing lol

this kit does not work on the two-wheel drive.
I have however seen people who have made the two-wheel drive into a backslash. so it is possible, but this conversion kit does not work for a 2x4.

The strc stuff is in my description. As for other parts it's really personal preference.
But I'm using traxxas heavy-duty arms, Tekno 17mm adapters and duratrax 17mm bugy wheels. This is a 4s truck now so I've upgraded the entire driveline, tekno big bone center shaft, Tekno drive shafts, Traxxas X01 diffs, battery straps instead of the battery hold down,
If you keep the truck relatively stock all you really need is some adapters (the tekno ones won't fit stock axles I don't think) some tires, the strc kit, a body and a wing
I would recommend asking around though because not all bodies will fit a traxxas slash 4x4. The chassis is different between the HCG and LCG
I have done a ton of upgrades to this thing but you can do this WAY cheaper than I have.
