It is very clear that Nick Jonas isn't as trained as the rest but his voice fits so well for the story, it sets you in the atmosphere of young and innocent first love, something i couldn't really feel before. I love it
People who don't get i encourage you to just listen to audio, sounds great
if he just enunciated a bit more I think he'd be better!
I feel like his vocal style is just very different from that of musical theatre. It just sounds more like pop music, which is what he typically sings. Like @attackfox mentioned, I agree that he just needs to have clearer diction, which I feel he could achieve by opening his mouth more.
Cosette's rich heady voice sounds wonderful!
It sounds so optimistic and innocent when she sings "a night bright as day" at 2:15
Okay but can we just talk about how Samantha Barks looks so DEVESTATED with essentially ONE expression? Like I get why people gravitate towards Lea but in the 10th anniversary she doesn't convey the same level of emotion. Maybe jealous, almost looked pouty in the 10th anniversary version of this. Samantha's acting makes me feel her heartbreak like no other Eponine.
Katie Hall is so underrated. She has very sweet and yet powerful voice. Almost piercingly good to be honest. I really love her character.
Yes, there was another comment section of this concert people were praising Ramin, Samantha, and other people in this concert but I was the first one to bring up Katie.
She is hands down the best singer in this song.
I really love this version of the song, Samantha's voice gives me goosebumps every time!
Ngl... I cried. Not just because I can relate but also seeing how devastated and heartbroken Eponine looks and sounds
Same
Katie Hall has such a light, sweet voice. It's fantastic
Katie Hall is awesome, for sure my favourite Cosette. She brings so much personality and depth to Cosette which can definitely be lacking in the previous performances I’ve seen. Her singing is gorgeous also, especially in this song and her verse in “In my life”; she really threads the needle of hitting the notes she’s supposed to and letting her soprano shine through without sounding shrill at all. Colour me impressed!
It's so funny to me when Samantha starts singing. Before I was like "yeah ok, i guess nick is aight" but after I just laughed. This is too much for him
I really love these three. Samantha will always be a favourite for me
the ladies came and conquered!!!!!
I don't know if Eponine is actually my favorite character or if it is because of Samantha
Katie Hall is EVERYTHING ❤
ニック・ジョナスのマリウスが好き。歌に感情があるし、キャラクターもぴったり。
That thruple harmony
I come back here once in a while. I’m not a Jonas fan or anything, but I’m so proud of him here. He is actually feeling it too, not just focusing on technique like some do in musicals. I love this performance. I say it again, BRAVO 👏🏼
I know everyone hates him in it, but I love Nick Jonas in this production. I am aware he is the weakest voice of the cast, but i just adored him in this so much
Plus I feel it's prudent to mention the dude was 18 at the time. And had been a Disney star for a while at this point.
I think it adds to the youthful and innocent character he’s playing!
@@snowkait1918 he started on broadway before Jonas Brothers. I believe he was 8 or so 🫶🏼
Same
I like this version so much ❤
Great chemistry
I so Love This Clip ... I don't Mind Watching it Over and over again.. Please Post more if Possible.. Much Thanx 😊
Amazing
👏👏👏👏👏 Bravo Nick
2:39 hits hard
I think they all do a good job
Éponine, I understand you more than ever recently.
Eponien no. 1
Good lord. The girl acting for eponine is so beautiful. Marius...you fool.
Nick Jonas needed to match the other singers and they were full voiced .
Lol yes but for Nick he was already singing full voice. As a pop singer his voice is weak compared to a musical theater singer since they project their voices while Nick depends on his mic
Nick Jonas was a good choice for Marius. The tender, emotive, pop sensibility of his voice adds something to these songs.
While he’s far from the best, I like the idea of getting someone more in line with the age of the character to play him. Personally I didn’t think he was too bad. But when you also have Michael Ball it’s like “Well of course this is way better!”
Actually Nick was the weakest voice in the entire main cast. I thought it was an odd choice. What musicals has he done ?
THANK YOU!! I think he sounds quite good and fits the part well
Nick is minor leagues next to Michael Ball.
@@fairamir1 He has done Beauty and the Beast and probably another
This concert was superb with the exception of the casting of Nick Jonas!
the girls ate you could tell they were are at the top of their game
Enjoras and Eponine survive, get married and live happily ever after.
That’s what I’d like to see!
This is my roman empire 😭
So real
it's giving the lead guy in ur high school musical who got the part bc he was the only guy who auditioned lmao
Michael ball will always be Marius… I’ll die on this hill
People r criticizing nick but I’m acc shocked I didn’t know he sung like this 😭 isn’t he pop trained
No, actually, his career started on Broadway when he was 7.
Anyone else reminded of Christian Laettner on the Dream Team?
Red and black
do you have the lyrics?
I thought that looked like Nick Jonas. He did great in that part
Bravo Nick Jonas!!! 👏🏼 very well performed

Nick Jonas sounds like the main guy from Zoolander
What is this, a barricade for ANTS?
0:33
I can't believe Jonas got this role. Theater-people are usually more credible in their castings.
talk about being unqualified for the job
Epoine looks like the one from movie
Because she is.
@@Loj0468 what really
@@user-ub6gh9km4d yes, Samantha was cast as Eponine in the movie!
ugh he's so hot
Comments are absurd this delivery is better then any other you can find. Movie was atrocious. 10yr had no emotion. This is perfect
Why Samantha didn’t look at Marius at all???!!! Even during her dying moment when Marius looked at her with all emotions she still looked ahead as if she’s blind… why???😢
It is like she is in another place, singing at the same time. But i agree looks weird without the proper setting
im pretty sure its because it not really a proper staging of the musical? its more of a concert? if they had mics on them and they can do the proper blocking she would have looked at him more, but they had to face the mics for their voices to be caught and heard
Still prefer the novie versions.. a lot more feeling, with the 2 lovers looking into each others eyes.. and i think the movie's Marius is way better too
Not as good as the 10th anniversary!
The girls are absolutely lovely, but the misguided kid in the middle looks like he’s reading cue cards! And why does he always look like someone just cut one?
A heart full of love is really toxic song between one head and one mind
Marius and Cosette are both sing A heart full of love Just like they both brainwash together
I will definitely not sing that song and get brainwash
absolutely not
Yes, all three can sustain a tune. However, I feel that they didn’t do this song justice in their delivery. Nick especially, his execution of this song lacks the conviction of a character like Marius in Love with Cosette. His singing is pedantic and is not dynamic whatsoever. It’s “high school” quality at best. Like one who commented in this comment thread, he was the weakest voice in this cast. It’s so cringe worthy!!! If you’re sharing the stage with greats like Ramin Karimloo, Lea Salonga, Allie Boe and Norm Lewis, you best be stellar as well. I question producers of productions like this as there is WAY BETTER TALENT out there. Showcase those singers, instead of of people with “star power” and a pretty face.
Bought this Version in DVD and I had to return it. He ruined the whole show, no chemistry whatsoever and added no emotion to his singing... I guess he forgot to add acting with his singing. Terrible choice and made the whole cast suffer.
Finally❤ thank u
lol this is way harsh and I would hardly say cringeworthy. I think Samantha is definitely amazing, and I think Nick offers his spin on the part.
As for comparing them to greats, they are all 3 doing things you or I could never do… loosen up and realize not everything is for you. I quite enjoyed this performance.
Wow! Harsh! Are you a broadway actor or critic? Just asking. I am not. Just a fan but I think they all sound amazing!
i will say i liked Amanda Seyfried better than Katie simply cause on that last high note that cossett sings you can hear katie strugling more to voice the note than amanda
Is Nick constipated? 💩
What do u mean lol 😂
Nick Jonas is not British....
I sincerely dont understand why you are metioning this
Nick Jonas looks so wooden here, especially his expression!
The guy doing Marius is awful
Oh dear. Totally out of his depth. Stunt casting gone wrong.
Know your limitations and stick to what you excel at. This aint it, Nick.
Excuse me for what I'm about to say, but Nick Jonas is not up to the task.
In the movies and of course in the play they put an opera singer or something similar. Here's a pop singer who can't hit the notes.
The result: it sounds strange, and out of tune, there being so many people, I don't understand why they chose him.
Stunt casting,. Nothing more.
Nick jonas, sorry, but down, no man voice, 17een year old could have done it better
I thought it was good.
Nick jonas was 17 when he did this role so…
Marius was a young man…
